75 year old former minister, speaker and 8 terms’ MLA Harbans Kapoor is no more
The eight times lawmaker from Dehradun Cantt, former minister and a BJP stalwart of Uttarkhand Harbans Kapoor has breathed his last sending shock waves around.
He was the speaker of Uttarakhand assembly as well and known for his selfless service to the people with affable nature and untiring knack to help the people at large apart from the his electorates.
The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami reached his house at Dehradun and expressed his, deepest condolences praying to Almighty to render peace to this pious soul and giving enough strength to bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
On hearing the sad news of his untimely demise the BJP leaders and workers started converging at his Dehradun house to pay their respectful tributes. His body will be kept in the party office till 2 PM for the people’s darshan and there after taken to Lakhibagh crematorium for consigning to flames at 3 PM said his family members. Born on 17 th January 1946, 75 years old Harbans Kapoor was suffering from bad health for since time.
Speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly from 2007 to 2012, Harbans KPoor was minister in undivided Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand having served as MLA four four terms in Uttar Pradesh Assembly and 4 term in Uttarakhand assembly with his latest term being from 2017 till date from Dera Khas Assembly. Becoming first time MLA in 1989 he lost only for once in 1985, thereafter being lawmaker for eight terms, a record in itself.
His special connect with the people of his constituency was tremendous as he used to go by his scooter in each and every nook and corner to help people in distress n need.
A highly experienced parliamentarian, Harbans Kapoor was an outstanding orator who raised people’s issues in the Assembly very often with his oratorical skill. His untimely passing away is a huge loss to BJP in particular and the people of Dehradun in general.
The Congress leaders Harish Rawat and state president Ganesh Godiyal went to the BJP leaders house and paid their tributes n condolences. In a series of tweet Harish Rawat said : Uttarakhand’d Azad Shatru, having represented Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly representing Dehradun Assembly incessantly Harban Kapoor isni mire. Visited his house and paid my deepest condolences. May the Almighty render peace to the departed sould and strength to the family to bear the irreparable loss tweeted Rawat.
The former Congress president Kishore Upadhyay said that a vrat Vriska has demolished and an eminent personality has left us all of a sudden with whom I got an opportunity to work with for over a decade. I was always blessed by him during my political journey who was a true source of inspiration to me. His passing away is a huge loss to our society n the vaccum left by his untimely passing away will be difficult to be filled said Kishore Upadhyay in his condolences message.
The Congress party in Uttarakhand has suspended it’s all programmes n functions in honour of this great leader if Uttarakhand. Om Shanti.
