Attempted Abduction of Woman in Dehradun: Police Detain One Accused, Hunt on for Four Others

Dehradun, 26 September 2026 – Dehradun Police have cracked the case of attempted abduction of a woman in Raipur police station area and taken a 19-year-old woman into custody, while search is on for four other accused who are absconding.
The accused had allegedly come to intimidate the woman over a dispute arising from a business transaction related to a dairy, police said.
According to police, on 23 September 2026, Sushma Verma, resident of Kanan Kunj, Sahastradhara Road, had lodged a complaint at Raipur police station that at around 6:50 am near Nala Pani Chowk, some people had tried to forcibly make her sit in a car.
Taking the matter seriously, on the directions of SSP Dehradun, a joint team of Raipur police station and SOG Dehat was constituted. The team scanned CCTV footage from the spot and surrounding routes and started identifying the suspects.
During investigation, on 26 September, the team arrested Chahat alias Annu from Sahastradhara Road. During interrogation, names of four other accused involved in the incident came to light.
Police said during questioning the accused woman revealed that she and Deepak Paswan wanted to start their own business. In this connection, a deal to run a dairy located at Athurwala-Bhaniyawala was finalized with Sushma Verma for about Rs 7.50 lakh. According to the accused, they had paid Rs 5 lakh in cash and a cheque of Rs 2.50 lakh.
Later, dispute escalated over less than expected milk yield from the cows in the dairy and over monetary transactions. According to police, the accused alleged that their money was not being returned.
Due to this dispute, the accused planned to intimidate Sushma Verma. According to police, for this purpose, a black Swift car was hired on rent from near Kargi Chowk.
On the morning of 23 September, the accused reached Sahastradhara area to scare the woman. When the woman raised an alarm and people nearby gathered, the accused fled from the spot.
The arrested accused has been identified as Chahat alias Annu, daughter of Vinod Kumar, resident of Govind Vihar, Danda Lakhond, police station Raipur, Dehradun, aged 19 years.
The wanted accused have been identified as Deepak son of Dilip Kumar of Vishnu Lok Colony, Jwalapur, police station Sidcul, Haridwar; Sushant alias Lucky son of Anil Kumar of village Dob, tehsil Devprayag, police station Hindolakhal, Tehri Garhwal; Aditya Vashishtha son of Amit Sharma of Aurangabad, police station Sidcul, Haridwar and Priyanshu son of Sukhpal of Nagla Ahmad, police station Manglaur, Haridwar.
Police said continuous raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding accused.
