Dehradun, 24 September 2026. Doon Police has claimed to have solved the case of a woman who was shot dead on 21 September in the Clement Town police station area. The police have arrested the victim’s husband Dhiraj Panwar alias Lallu, who was wanted in the incident. According to the police, a 315 bore country-made pistol used in the murder, one live cartridge and the blood-stained shirt worn at the time of the incident have been recovered from the possession of the accused.
According to the police, on the morning of 21 September, through the 112 control room, Clement Town police station received information that Dhiraj had a scuffle with his wife Kajal and during this, his wife died after being shot. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and found a woman dead on a bed. She had bullet injuries on her head and stomach.
The deceased was identified as Kajal wife of Dhiraj Panwar, resident of opposite Eidgah, Subhash Nagar, Rana Marg, Dehradun, aged 26 years. The police called the forensic team to the spot, inspected the crime scene and collected necessary evidence.
After the incident, the deceased’s husband Dhiraj switched off his mobile phone and absconded. On the basis of a complaint by the deceased’s brother, a case was registered at Clement Town police station under FIR No. 91/2026, Section 103(1) BNS.
Dispute was going on with wife, claim of getting information about divorce
On the instructions of SSP Dehradun, a joint team of Clement Town police station and SOG was formed to arrest the accused. According to the police, the accused had no permanent address and since marriage he was living with his wife and children at his wife’s maternal home in Subhash Nagar.
According to the police, during interrogation the accused said that he was married to Kajal about 12 years ago and they have two children. For the last about one year, there was a dispute between the two for various reasons. According to the accused, for the last three months his wife was not allowing him to enter the house and was also not allowing him to meet the children.
Police say that about a month ago the accused came to know that his wife was preparing to divorce him. After this he planned to kill his wife.

According to the police, the accused purchased a country-made pistol from Saharanpur to execute the murder plan. One night before the incident, he reached Dehradun from Saharanpur and kept hiding in an under-construction building near the spot and allegedly kept watching for an opportunity.
According to the police, getting an opportunity in the morning, the accused broke the tin door of the house and entered inside and fired two shots at his wife who was sleeping on the bed. After that he fled from the spot.
Police said that information about the accused was gathered with the help of solid investigation and informer network. After this, on 23 September 2026, Dhiraj Panwar alias Lallu was arrested from Clement Town area. On his instance, the country-made pistol allegedly used in the incident, a live cartridge and the shirt worn at the time of the incident were recovered.

According to the police, further legal action is being taken in the case registered against the accused.
