Former Uttarakhand Congress chief Kishore Upadhyay criticizes Padmashree Pritam Bhartwan

The former industrial advisor to Uttarakhand CM, fmr lawmaker and former chief of Uttarakhand Congress, currently the founding chief of Forests Rights Movement of Uttarakhand Kishore Upadhyay has expressed his annoyance and disgust over the participation and performance by eminent singer Pritam Bhartwan at a glittering cultural programme of regional songs, Jagars and spiritual singing discourses in Jhakhnidhar, Tehri Garhwal on 22 nd Oct, 2021, when Tehri Garhwal has lost number of brave soldiers in Jammu n Kashmir and 60 people died in the deluge n natural calamity in Kuamon, Uttarakhand.

The programme of Uttarakhand regional songs and spiritual and folk dances are being performed right now with Padmashree n regional legendary singer n musician Pritam Bhartwan performing.

The former Congress chief and Vanadhikar Andolan founding president Kishore Upadhyay has while expressing his serious concern and annoyance on this ocassion said that when Tehri Garhwal has lost two soldiers in our strife torn Kashmir fighting bravely the terrorists at a young age and over sixty people having died in the ongoing deluge and natural calamities in Uttarakhand then organising such a cultural programme for enjoyment and entertainment is nothing but playing with the sentiments of those who have lost their near and dear ones in tragic deluge and in service of the nation fighting our enemies.

While deploring the participation and performance of an entertaining regional cultural programme in Tehri Garhwal in 22 nd Oct , 2021 Kishore Upadhyay said legendary singer and Padma Shree Pritam Bhartwan should have avoided this show and instead visited the natural calamity hit areas to lend his hand of support to the victims and bereaved families.

This cultural event organised by Pritam Bhartwan at this critical hour is therefore nothing but like sprinkling salt on the wounds of the sufferers n bereaved families who’ve lost their near and dear once and insult to their anguished sentiments said Congress leader Kishore Upadhyay.

He added that Pritam Bhartwan is our Gaurav and therefore he should have avoided such entertainment programmes at this critical time when Uttarakhand is observing mourning on account of loss of more than sixty lives.

In a video released in social media Pritam Bhartwan has appealed to his fan and followers to participate in large numbers in this cultural event at Jakhnidhar, Tehri Garhwal, to make it a grand success organised by the MLA where “Dhol Damau”, traditional musical instruments will also be distributed to deserving budding musicians.
