This is called humanity: Man returns ₹4 lakh found on Meerut highway

MEERUT | 2026

A moment of honesty on the Meerut highway has restored faith in human integrity.

On Thursday, a biker was speeding down the highway when the zip of his bag came undone. ₹500 and ₹200 notes began flying out and scattered across nearly half a kilometre of the road. For a while, it looked like it was “raining money” on the highway.

Amit, who was coming from behind on his bike, noticed the notes and shouted to alert the biker. But the biker didn’t stop.

Without hesitation, Amit stopped and began gathering the scattered currency. When he counted it, the amount turned out to be around ₹4 lakh.

The biggest thing, people said, was that despite seeing such a huge amount, greed did not cross his mind. Amit immediately informed the police and handed over the entire amount to them.

Police reached the spot and spent about 40 minutes collecting the notes from the highway. A total of 11 bundles of cash were recovered.

“In today’s times, when seeing ₹4 lakh can shake anyone’s honesty, Amit set an example with his integrity,” locals said.

“Amit bhai, salute to your honesty from the heart!
*It is people like you who keep society’s trust alive.”

Police said they are trying to trace the biker who lost the money so the cash can be returned to its rightful owner.
