A highly decomposed dead body of a 20 year old boy found in Chamoli forests missing since May 13 th

The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Aditya Singh Negi, son of Ramesh Negi, a resident of Joshimath. Aditya was a second-year IT student at the Government Polytechnic, Gopeshwar. He was living in a rented room in Gopeshwar during his studies. It is being reported that he suddenly went missing on the night of May 13th. His mobile phone was also switched off, following which his family filed a missing person report in Chamoli Kotwali on May 15th.
Upon receiving the information, Inspector , in-charge of the Chamoli police station, Rakesh Bhatt arrived at the scene with a police team. Since the incident occurred in the dense and difficult forest of Jhaj, the police had to struggle to reach the body and retrieve it. After the rescue, the body was sent to the District Hospital in Gopeshwar for necessary legal action.
The family, who had been searching for their son for a month, had been hoping for his safe return, but the news of his body being found in the forest left the family in deep shock. An atmosphere of mourning prevailed in entire Gopeshwar and the surrounding areas following the incident. Police say the exact cause of death will be revealed only after the investigation is complete.
On Tuesday morning, some local women who were collecting grass in the Paduli forest near Gopeshwar (Roli Gwad area) spotted a human body lying in the forest. The women immediately alerted the villagers, who then informed the police.
The body was very old and decayed, making it difficult to identify. Police called the young man’s family and friends involved in the missing person case. Based on his clothing and a mobile phone recovered at the scene, the deceased’s friends identified him as Adi Singh Negi. Later, family members and other acquaintances also confirmed the identification.
The dead body has been sent for post mortem and handed to the traumatised family members.
