A cumulative demand for separate Jaswant Garh district in the name of a valiant warrior who gave his supreme sacrifice in 1962 Indo China war, killing 300 soldiers and officers singlehandedly, martyr Mahavir Chakra recipient, Jaswant Singh Rawat is gaining tremendous momentum in Garhwal Uttarakhand.
This movement for new Jaswant Garh district comprising of extremely backward development blocks of Pauri Garhwal viz Nainidanda, Rikhnikhaal, Bironkhal, Pokhra, Thalisain and Sald development block of Almora district is acknowledging cumulative people’s support as the inhabitants of this new district are suffering socio economically due to lack of development for the last several decades.
Speaking to UKnationnews, the convenor of Jaswantgarh District Sangharsh Samiti R. P Dhani has said that this backward area has been waiting for its all round development since the last two decades of the separate Uttarakhand estate coming into existence and even before that when the Garhwal and Kumaon regions were in undivided Uttar Pradesh.
The inhabitants of this area have been demanding and relentlessly struggling for the educational, infrastructural, roads and health related development for last several years even before Uttarakhand came into existence in the year 2000, but of no avail.
The people of this backward area are badly frustrated and infuriated as their demand for the Jaswantgarh district has never been heard to and given any weightage by the Uttar Pradesh government before the state came into existence nor after two decades of Uttarakhand state having come into existence.
As a result the people of all sections of the society are fully and wholly backing this demand having vowed to fight till the last to ensure that a new Jaswantgarh district finally comes into existence.
According to the president of the Jaswantgarh Sangharsh Samiti ( Retd) Colonel Jaivardhan Singh Rawat, the Garhwal and Kumaon regions being the ex servicemen dominated parts of Uttarakhand, they are acknowledging tremendous support from the cross section of the people especially ex servicemen in support of their long pending demand of Jaswant Garh district.
He vowed to carry forward this demand with full force and peoples’ support in order to pay tributes to our valiant fighter Mahavir Chakra recipient posthumously who sacrificed his life killing three hundred Chinese soldiers n officers in the Nefa war singlehandedly martyr Jaswant Singh Rawat.
He appealed to carry on this struggle relentlessly to compel the government to fulfil their demand for making a new Jaswantgarh district to honour this great historical martyr and the people of this new district to be formed who have been reeling under tremendous socio economic and developmental backwardness in educational, health and other sectors from time immemorial.
The secretary of the Sangharsh Samiti Updesh Bisht said that the government should not take their examination of tolerence of their peaceful struggle for the last thirty years and fulfil their demand forth with failing which they will be constrained to resort to direct action.
The secretary of Sangharsh Samitte Mahendra Kandari said that on 17 th November, 2021the day of supreme sacrifice of great warrior known as “Jaswant Singh Balidan Diwas”, in Nainidanda block His Balidan Diwas will be commemorated in which ex service men in massive numbers will collect here to participate in the salute parade to this valiant warrior and chalk out the future course of action.
