Avalanche in Srinagar, Leh Ladakh’s Zojila pass killing seven and injuring five

There is an extremely tragic news coming in from Srinagar, Leh Ladakh about a massive avalanche resulting in seven deaths that occured at a high altitude of jozila Pass at at approximate height of 3, 528 metres from sea level which connects Kashmir Valley with Srinagar. This massive avalanche resulted in these tragic deaths occuring inside the vehicles numbering three that have come under the heavy snow, may be due to asphixiation. The union minister Jitendra Singh while expressing his deepest condolences said on X : Saddened to learn about the tragic death of 7 persons and injuries to 5 after avalanche hit the vehicle at Zojila pass. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families. All required assistance being provided to the injured write union minister Singh on X. The Lt. governor of Leh, Ladakh Vinay Saxena has directed all the government agencies including relief Forces , BRO and the DC, SSP Karhil to immediately visit the spot and mobilise all the relief and rescue operstionterminv this tragedy as an unfortunate news. He said that he is personally monitoring the situation. The Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mr. Abdullah has also expressed his deepest concern and condolences to the bereaved families and wishing for the early recovery of those injured. There are reports that five persons have been injured in this avalanch who have been shifted to the nearby hospitals. The avalanche was so powerful that tonnes of snow came down with tremendous uncontrollable force taking cars under its impact and thowing some of them off the road.
