After several kills a maneater again makes a four year old girl its easy prey in Shrikot village, Kotdwar, Pauri Garhwal

The terror of the maneater leopards is not coming down rather increasing day by day. While, in Koti village in Pauri Garhwal a woman was killed by a maneater in Dandriyal village a 41 year old woman who had gone to cut grass nearby was grievously injured in the neck and shoulder admitted in Kotdwar hospital resulting in outburst of cumulative anger by the local residents who even blocked the traffic in Srinagar yesterday. As a result the forest and wild life department has fixed an iron cage in Dandriyal village and trapped the maneater. As if this was not enough yesterday evening a four year old girl became the prey of a maneater in Shrikot village near Kotdwar in Pauri Garhwal district when she was grabbed by the maneater leopard and dragged to the nearby jungle and brutally killed sending shock waves all around. It was 8.00 PM in the night. The four year old girl was playing in the house compound when a maneater leopard in prowl for human flesh pounced in her, grabbed her by her neck and dragged to the jungle never to return back again. According to the villagers who are badly panicked had gone to the nearby jungle and found the highly mutilated body of the child sending shock waves and fear around. On receiving the news the DFO of the jungle Nakshatra Shah alongwith other subordinates visited the site and are trying their best to trap the maneater at the earliest. The forest department has assured of fixing the iran cage and trap the maneater. This deadly shocking death of a baby girl of merely four years have raised several questions on the increasing human wild life conflict. The Pauri, Rudraprayag, Champawat, Tehri Garhwal, Almora, Nainital and pithoragarh districts are these days adversely impacted by the prowl of good number of maneaters posing direct threats to human existence. The maneaters and even wild bears are roaming near human habitat freely and attacking the children, women and senior citizens. It is a sort of emergency situation in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions.
