Announcement to increase the pension of state agitators and their dependents by Uttarakhand CM

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday paid tribute to the martyrs of the Uttarakhand state movement by offering floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Site court complex in Dehradun.

In the same sequence, on the occasion of the silver jubilee year of the establishment of Uttarakhand state, the Chief Minister honoured the state agitators and the families of the martyred state agitators in the State Movement Felicitation Ceremony organized at the Police Line.

On this occasion, flower shower was also done from helicopter on the state agitators at the court complex martyr’s place and police line Dehradun.

The Chief Minister said that the creation of Uttarakhand state is not just a political decision, but the result of the sacrifice, struggle and penance of millions of people of Devbhoomi.

He said that painful incidents like Khatima, Mussoorie and Rampur Tiraha during the Uttarakhand movement are immortal chapters of our history.

Paying homage to all the known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the creation of the state, he said that the state government has been giving top priority to the respect of the agitators and will continue to do so.

Referring to the pension and other facilities provided to the state agitators, he said that this is not just help but a symbol of our gratitude.

Chief Minister’s Announcement*

*1. Key infrastructure facilities in their areas will be named after martyred statehood movement leaders.*

*2* *The pension of the agitators who were jailed for 7 days during the Uttarakhand statehood movement or were injured during the statehood movement will be increased from Rs 6,000 per month to Rs 7,000 per month.*

*3* *The pension of other state agitators, other than those who went to jail or were injured during the Uttarakhand state movement, will be increased from Rs 4500 per month to Rs 5500 per month.*

*4* *The pension of the state agitators who became disabled and completely bedridden during the Uttarakhand state movement will be increased from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 per month and arrangements for medical attendants will also be made for their care.*

*5* *The pension of the dependents of the state agitators martyred during the Uttarakhand state movement will be increased from Rs 3000 to Rs 5500 per month.*
*6* *For identification of Uttarakhand State agitators, six months’ time extension will be provided for disposal of pending applications received in the District Magistrate’s office till the year 2021.*

*7* *All martyr memorials will be beautified.*

The Chief Minister said that the State Government will always remember the contribution of the agitators with respect and will incorporate their sentiments in every policy and decision.
He appealed that on the State Foundation Day, the people of the state should light five lamps in their homes in the memory of the state agitators.

The Chief Minister said that the spirit of the statehood movement is our inspiration to achieve the goal of making Uttarakhand the best state in the country. He called on everyone to participate in this effort.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, Subodh Uniyal, MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLA . Vinod Chamoli, . Khajan Das, . Umesh Sharma Kau, Mrs. Savita Kapoor, Vice President State Movement Honor Council . Subhash Barthwal, District Magistrate,Dehradun District Magistrate Mr. Savin Bansal, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Ajay Singh and state agitators were present.
