THE UTTARAKHAND’S PRIMARY EDUCATION DIRECTOR Ajay Naudiyal has literally attacked a girl journalist and threw her phone in a fit of anger even trying to hit her physically. This incident was captured on camera and released in social media. Such incidents of attack on journalists are increasing in Uttarakhand and several parts of the country even lodging of FIRs on false and fabricated charges just with the intent of victimising the outspoken journalist and demoralising them on the line of duty so that they are discouraged to ask bold questions. In the above case also the journalist posed a question to the director of the Uttarakhand primary education, but instead of responding to the question he pounced on the journalist snaching her camera and throwing it on the ground even trying to hit her physically. Fortunately some staff members came to the rescue of the girl reporter and the matter subsided. The education and health minister of Uttarakhand who has failed to deploy doctors in the hilly region hospitals at least should now suspend this officer and penalize him further for attacking in a woman journalist. Sounds shocking that a class one gazetted officer behaves like a rogue element and misbehaves with a girl reporter losing his patience going to the extent of throwing her mobile and even trying to hit her physically. Had the people around not stopped him he would have hit her vigorously, shame.
This incident clearly demonstrates the bureaucracy’s dominance in Uttarakhand. It wants everything to be done according to its dictates. Nautiyal served as the Additional Director of Secondary Education, Garhwal Division, in Pauri.
Then, he initially didn’t stay in Pauri. During his time there, he didn’t meet any journalists. Or rather, he kept making excuses for not meeting them. This is a stark example of the low level of psychology of such director-level officers.
We strongly condemn his actions against journalists and half the population. Shame on you? Was this state made for this day?
