In Maharashtra the double engine government is ruling for the last several years but unfortunately despite its tall claims nothing less than mere rhetorics and lies happened with the peasants committing suicides.
The country’s media has negligible concern for these severe tragedies and hardly gives coverage to these tragic suicides of the poor farmers reeling under acute hardships, financial and otherwise.
Majority of the ruling political dispensation oriented news channels and newspapers are publishing news pertaining to alleged communal hindu muslim divide , caste and religion and news related to India Pakistan crisis etc.
According to the news, the Maharashtra government has recently published a data on Farmers’ suicide which has indeed compelled people of the country to go into shock.
According to the statistics issued by the Maharashtra government in this regard – during January and March 2025 i.e. the current three months 727 farmers have committed suicides and majority of these deceased farmers are from Vidarbha, Maharashtra revealed the statistics.
The leader of the opposition and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has vociferously reacted to this shocking statistics released by the Maharashtra government saying that the prime minister has observed silence on these massive suicides of the farmers . He is rather busy on his own PR a searching its severe consequences. This system has resulted in compelling the farmers to take this drastic step of suicides said Rahul Gandhi.
In a long protest message posted on X the leader of the opposition came down heavily on the BJP led NDA government and PM Narendra Modi writing : Just imagine in just three months 767 committed suicides in Maharashtra. He asked : Is this just a statistics ? No , these are 767 destroyed homes. 767 families who will never be able to recover again. And the government, it is silent . It is watching with indifference. Farmers are sinking deeper into the debt every day – seeds are expensive …. But there is no guarantee of MSP . When they demand loan waivers, they are ignored. But those who have crores of rupees Modi government easily forgives their loans. Just look at today ‘s news : Anil Ambani’s Rs.48000 crore SBI fraud. Modiji has said that he will double the income of farmers but today unfortunately the situation is that the life of the farner us getting halves. This system is killing farmers , silently but continuously and Modiji is watching the spectacle of his own PR wrote Rahul in Hindi in X while reacting to the suicides of 767 farmers in Maharashtra in just three months.
