President Draupadi Murmu was literally in tears when visually handicapped children sang a mesmerising song on her birthday at Dehradun

The President of India Draupadi Murmu today became extremely emotional in a function at National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities at Dehradun, the Uttarakhand’s capital when the blind children sang a mesmerising song on the occasion of her birthday today praying for her long life.

Sensing her outpouring of tears and emotion, the ADC gave her the handkerchief and the president rubbed her eyes in tears for few seconds not able to stop the tears on the melodious song sung by the children ” Tim Jiyo Hazaaron Saal, Ye hai aarjoo , Tum Jiyo Hazaaron Saal.

The scene was extremely emotional and everyone present must definitely be in tears, I believe.

President Draupadi Murmu thanked the countrymen for wishing her on her birthday writing on X : Thank you, dear fellow citizens, for wishing me on my birthday. Reading your messages leaves me with a deep sense of gratitude. Your kind words remain a source of inspiration and strength for me. Over 87 thousand users have seen her message in X.

Today was extremely hectic for the president on her visit to Dehradun where she released a postage stamp on Raj Bhavan, Nainital, on the completion of its 125 years, at Dehradun.

The Governor of Uttarakhand retired Lt. General Gurmeet Singh and the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were also present on this ocassion.

Earlier President Droupadi Murmu hosted an ‘At Home’ reception at Rashtrapati Niketan, Dehradun in which the chief minister, ministers, former CM Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank , leader of opposition Yashpal Arya and top bureaucrats and luminaries of Uttarakhand were present to greet her.

President Droupadi Murmu visited the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities at Dehradun and interacted with the students.

The President said that the progress of a country or society can be judged by the way the people treat persons with disabilities in that society. She urged all to encourage the divyangjan in every sphere of life. She graced the opening of Rashtrapati Tapovan and Rashtrapati Niketan at Dehradun.

She also inaugurated public amenities, including the Visitor Facilitation Centre, the Cafeteria, and the Souvenir Shop, and laid the foundation stone for Rashtrapati Udyan at Rashtrapati Niketan.

The Rashtrapati Tapovan will open for public viewing from June 24, 2025 and Rashtrapati Niketan will be open from July 1, 2025.
