The Lansdowne Old Students Association has successfully completed its 14 th Annual celebration two day convention at Narendra Club and Cinema auditorium.
This time, the final day event on 15 th June couldn’t be held at the open historic Gandhi Chowk, Lansdowne due to the massive rain of a few hours disturbing its schedule where every year about three thousand spectators interestingly present themselves including the LOSA members to enjoy the mesmerising cultural evening to be presided over by the first citizen of Lansdowne Brigadier who is the first citizen of this township.
This time the current Brigadier of Garhwal Rifles Commandant Vinod Singh Negi was the chief guest, followed by the special guests of honour the Deputy Commandant Lt. Colonel Mr. Sirohi , the Pauri Nagar Palika president Himani Negi and her husband Keshar Singh Negi, former District Punchayati chairman and Sonia Anand Rawat, a renowned singer and socio political activist etc.
The chief guests on the first day event were Raghubir Singh Bisht, former OSD to the then minister Tourism Lt. General TPS Rawat and senior Congress leader and Dr. Vijay Khandelwal, IITian, for director in GOI and PhD on Artificial Intelligence which he completed after his retirement.
The entire credit for successfully organizing this two day event goes to its president Dr.S.P.Naithani, Vice President , former DIG CBI Virendra Singh Rana , Secretary general Ajay Aggrawal, treasurer Rajiv Barthwal, Professor Sampuran Singh Rawat, former Lt Colonel Chandri Patwal, Mohan Singh Bisht, Vijay Kumar Khandelwal, Satendra Kumar Gaur, Arun Khankariyal, Mohan Davis, Bina Sharma, Jaipal Pawar , Ms. Lakshmi Thapa, Ms. Bhavna etc.
The two day event consisted of the first day mutual introductory session of the guests and LOSA members, distribution of prizes to meritorious students and budding players in TT, football, chess, carom etc. and the evening session with playing of Tambola game and lottery draws etc.
On 15 th June good number of mesmerising cultural folk dances by the students of schools in multicolour attractive attire, an interesting play in Garhwali dialect and mesmerising song acted and enacted by Dr. Satish Kaleshwari and the chief guest Brigadier Vinod Negi, Deputy Commandant Mr. Sirohi , Pauri Garhwal Nagar Palika chief Himani Negi, eminent singer and renowned Uttarakhand’s socio political activist Saroj Anand Rawat delivered their address and awards to the meritorious students including the winners of sports like Football, Volleyball, basketball including the outstanding artists who performed their dances on this ocassion.
Several important LOSA members and distinguished guests as journalists, astrological experts , PHD in AI, former IIT professors etc were present on this occasion.
The first day sessions chief guest was Mr. Khandelwal , a retired Director in GOI, AI PHD holder, former IITian and Raghubir Singh Bisht , a Congress leader. Those who were awarded on this occasion with Ghananand Gagodiya Smriti Award were the budding artist Manisha Bisht and matured artist scribe Anuj Khandelwal. The president of LOSA Dr. S.P. Naithani announced that they have distributed Rs. 16 lakhs as scholarship to the poor and meritorious students of various schools of Lansdowne during the last few years despite its budget crunch.
On 14 th evening an exhibition organised by a renowned artist, poet and author Mr. NIthani was organized at Narendra Club and inaugurated by the first day’s guest Mr. Khandelwal , a former IItian and PHD in AI. The first citizen of Lansdowne Brigadier Garhwal Rifles and chief commandant Vinod Singh Negi expressed his immense pleasure to have invited him to the LOSA meet as a chief guest narrating his reminiscences of his youthful days when he was the student at Lansdowne from where he lateron went to Khadakwasla and was commissioned in 1994 to be promoted finally as Brigadier at present.
He assured of his full cooperation to help support LOSA and felt privileged to be associated with it. He lauded the meritorious students and those who performed their cultural events and said that they should excel in all fields of life viz education, sports, music, art and culture and become an outstanding citizen with multiple talents to serve the nation constructively.
The Pauri Garhwal Nagar Palika president Himani Negi thanked LOSA for having been invited in this event and said that she would love to be associated with this organisation in future as well and shall feel it her privilege to extend her support if asked for in any field may be finance, developmental projects and helps to students etc. The special guest of honour Sonia Anand Rawat donated Rs.31 thousand to LOSA and promised to donate another twenty thousand rupees for the fees of the poor students including for arranging their other means to pursue their studies effectively.
The best soldier of the year award 2024-25 was delivered to Constable Santosh Singh whereas the best LOSA dedicated worker’s award ( honour) was bestowed to Mrs. Shanti Gusain. Mrs Aatia and N.S.Rawat were presented with the best former teachers award whereas Mr. Bharat Khatri was given the best Employees Award. Nayab Sunder Bhupendra Singh was delivered the best paramedics award and Safai Karmachari in Garhwal Rifles Regimental centre Sandeep was given the best sanitary award by the Brigadier Vinod Singh Negi. Several meritorious students of tenth twelfth were also presented awards including awards to the meritorious students from class first to 12 including scholar ships. The senior journalist and editor of Uknationnews, president Uttarakhand journalists Forum n Director Press club of India Sunil Negi and secretary general Garhwal Heroes Football Club Anil Negi were also honoured on this occasion for outstanding journalism and promoting football and budding footballers including promoting the Garhwal Heroes which has been the three time Delhi Soccer champion. The directors of the company named Sara Elevators which has to its credit installing more than four thousand elevators/ lifts at the pan India level including Uttarakhand had also graced the ocassion by their pivotal presence. The two day event was very ably anchored by Meena Adhikari and everybody lauded her contribution to the core.
