While the national capital territory is reeling under acute heat waves in Uttarakhand, rains have created Havoc in some parts.
A video going viral in social media is exhibiting heavy rains of merely damaging the rivulets and the nearby areas in Chamoli- Pipalkoti bringing with the floods tons and tons of mud and clay from the top with several cars and tempos etc submerged badly including agricultural several fields etc damaged. In Joshimath too, which was the victim of massive subsidence a year ago developing cracks in over thousand houses settled at alternative sites also witnessed a heavy rain for twenty minutes leading to overflowing of rivulets and subsequent disaster. In Uttarakhand, even during Summers there comes occasional rains which result in massive water flowing from high altitude mountains to down stream areas damaging agricultural fields, rivulets overflowing, damaging houses , cars, vehicles, roads and sometimes even killing people who come under rubble of the damaged houses, boulders falling on running vehicles on roads and highways leading to accidents as well, some accidents being extremely fatal.
Today’s overflowing of rivulets in Peepal Koti, Chamoli and Joshimath was massive that engulfed several vehicles in a rain of merely twenty minutes.
Atul Sati of Joshimath wrote on FB brief post in hindi : Cloudburst or heavy rainfall in the month of May is an indicator of change in the weather. Joshimath also witnessed heavy rain for 15-20 minutes today. These changes in the weather are now directly affecting the common people, this is no longer just a scientific imagination or theory..
Excessive interference with nature will further increase this process and crisis… Wrote Sati on X.
