Hectic campaigning on full swing in Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha elections, Polling on March 16

The campaigning for the elections of the largest social organisation of Garhwalies (Uttarakhandies) in Delhi NCR ” Garhwal Hetaishini Sabha ” founded in Quetta, Pakistan about hundred years ago are on full swing these days as the elections are scheduled for 16 th March, 2025. This organisation has the total membership of 4.600 persons. The three panels, two complete and the third with merely nine executive members are being led by the outgoing presidents Ajay Bisht, Surat Singh Rawat and advocate Rakesh Binjola. Several people are objecting that a constitutional amendment was made during the tenure of the GHS management prior to the tenure of Ajay Bisht that anyone contesting for the post above than the election of the executive committee in Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha will be forbidden unless he contests for the post of Membership of the Executive Committee and wins subsequently. This absurd amendment in GHS constitution is being criticized by all as such conditionality are not even in the election of the President of India said one of the members. This election of GHS are being conducted after the intervention of the lower court after one of the contestant advocate Rakesh Binjola filed a petition against the then ongoing controversies that occured after the cancellation of the nomination during scrutiny of about fifteen contestants including the presidential candidate Ajay Bisht , also the former president under whose tenure the amendment enhanced the term of the entire elected body from two to three years. The term of the previous body of GHS led by the outgoing president now also the candidate with his panel – Ajay Bisht had even crossed the three years term as majority of the term witnessed critical Covid times with several unfortunate deaths of our valued members. The campaigning is going on a hectic mode with all the panels busy visiting various localities and holding meetings with members of the Sabha giving them pre poll promises. Last time the three hundred new members were enrolled to the Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha after a protracted demand as the matter was stucked in court wranglings. Out of the three panels panel one has Ajay Bisht as president and Anil Pant as general secretary with the entire team , panel two has Surat Singh as President and Pawan Maithani as general secretary with entire team and the Panel 3 with only nine members as Executive Committee contestants being the first timers. The previous committee was however privileged to organise the centenary celebrations in New Delhi with pomp and show, full vigour and vitality and gaiety after its foundation in Quetta, Pakistan hundred years ago. The panel number three wants change ( Parvartan ) this time while the panel two is asking for votes on the slogan of United Garhwal. The panel number one is asking for votes on its performance capabilities during its previous term. However, kicking the Sale wala out from the Garhwal Mandal premises is the stereotype pre poll promises of every contesting panel for the last several decades not to be fulfilled till date.
