Justice Manmohan Takes Oath As Supreme Court Judge

Justice Manmohan was sworn in as a Supreme Court Judge on December 5, with Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna administering the oath in the presence of fellow judges. His appointment, announced by the Central Government on December 3, follows a recommendation from the Supreme Court Collegium on November 23.
With his elevation, the Supreme Court now has 33 judges, just one short of the sanctioned capacity of 34. Justice Manmohan is the senior-most judge of the Delhi High Court and ranks second in the national seniority list of High Court judges.
Born on December 17, 1962, he is the son of former Jammu and Kashmir governor Jagmohan Malhotra. He became a senior advocate on January 18, 2003, was appointed an Additional Judge on March 13, 2008, and became a Permanent Judge on December 17, 2009. He served as Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court starting November 9, 2023, and formally took over as Chief Justice in 29th September 2024.
