Will AAP change its sitting MLAs on several seats fearing anti incumbency

As the time for declaration of Delhi election dates by the Election Commission is coming nearer, the activities of various political parties viz, AAP, BJP and Congress have increased with AAP leader Arvind Kejrival holding good number of padyatras and mass contact programmes in Delhi and the Congress going on with its hectic Nyay Yatra led by the DPCC president Devendra Yadav in various constituencies, the Bhartiya Janata Party which couldn’t return to power in the national capital since 1998 despite its best efforts, manipulations and manoeuvrability to ensure that AAP is ousted from power this time by hook or by crook.

During the last more than ten year of rule , while the former Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival and AAP leaders have been at loggerheads with the centre and BJP on almost every issue accusing the ruling party at the centre for misusing the ED, CBI and IT and putting its leaders in jail has this time the risk of anti incumbency including BJP becoming successful in labelling the AAP as one of the corrupt parties especially after the former Delhi CM Kejrival, former deputy CM Manish Sisodia , Satyendra Jain, Sanjay Singh and several state lawmakers have been jailed in corruption charges with regard to the new liquor policy and alleged100 crores bribe having been taken by the AAP leaders from liquor magnates.

Fearing anti – incumbency, the AAM ADMI Party leadership is believed to have taken a formal decision to have the constituency wise survey executed at the earliest to ascertain the exact position of the state lawmakers whether they are popular in their respective constituencies or not.

There are reports that the AAP high command may change candidates on several seats fearing chances of defeat of some of its MLAs.

However, it strongly believes that the chances of the party are bright but changing its sitting candidates in at least ten seats is inevitable.

According to reliable sources the assembly seats which may change its sitting MLAs are : Matiala, Seelampur, Laxmi Nagar, Seemapuri , Chattarpur and five other seats.

In majority of AAP seats there are complaints that its MLAs have not established personal equation with the voters in their respective constituencies as the Congress and BJP MLAs used to do.

The majority of the AAP state lawmakers are banking on the image of their national convenor thinking that AAP wave will work this time as well as it worked during the last two elections.

But sources say this is not the situation this time and anti incumbency of the last decade may also go against AAP especially after the tirade raised by the ruling BJP against AAP todefame it – for framing a new excise policy to benefit the liquor mafia and allegedly taking Rs 100 crores from them the charge strongly denied by Arvind Kejrival and his party leaders.

Recently about half a dozen heavyweight leaders of BJP and Congress have joined the AAP and the latter want to oblige them and they are powerfull too in Delhi politics.

Hence instead of AAP’s sitting MLAs being continued the AAP leadership will oblige these leaders ( of other parties who joined AAP) by giving them tickets from the seats being vacated by sitting MLAs having not performed well during the past ten years and people asking for change.

There are reports that from Matiala Sumesh Shokeen who was earlier the the MLA during Sheila Dikshit regime for two terms and had joined AAP now may get the AAP ticket sidelining the sitting MLA Gulab Singh whose performance card is not satisfactory.

From trans yamuna Seelampur the chances of the son of the several times Congress MLA Choudhary Matin Ahmed are bright who alongwith his councillor wife had joined AAP.

The sitting AAP MLA Abdul Rehman’s chances aren’t good as he had resigned from the post of the chief of the minority’s AAP cell on the day son of Congress’s former MLA Matin Ahmed had joined AAP in the presence of Arvind Kejrival.

From Lakshmi Nagar AAP is giving ticket to BB Tyagi who had joined AAP recently from BJP. From Seemapuri seat after the resignation and defection of AAP leader Rajendra Pal Gautam it was in search of a capable dalit face. AAP has recently brought Inder Singh Dhingaan. Into confidence who was Congress MLA for three terms during Sheila Dikshit’s term. Dhingaan had joined AAP at the behest of Arvind Kejrival and the way Kekruval lauded him means that it’s crystal clear that AAP has almost finalised his ticket.

Similarly on Chattarpur seat the ticket of leading BJP leader and former MLA Brahma Singh Tanwar has been finalised after he joined the AAP recently. The AAP was in search of a capable leader as during the Parliamentary elections the AAP’s sitting MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar had resigned from here to join BJP. The AAP leadership was already in search of a capable candidate to fill the vacuum after Kartar Singh Tanwar joining BJP.
