The Congress party which has won the seven Lok Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh with Samajwadi party winning over 35 seats, the Nehru Gandhi family has won its two seats from its family stronghold Amethi and Rae Bareilly with a good margin. According to the latest news Gandhi family scion Rahul Gandhi has defeated his BJP rival Dinesh Singh by a huge margin of about four lakh votes. The latest reports indicate that the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi secured 6,84, 261 votes against his nearest BJP rival Dinesh Pratap who has secured 2,95,646 votes. From Wayanad in Kerala too, Rahul Gandhi defeated his nearest BJP rival by a margin of two lakh votes. It may be recalled that the former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has contested from Rae Bareilly as well a Wayanad in Kerala. His mother Sonia Gandhi had been representing Rae Bareilly Lok Sabha seat since 2004 till 2024 , always winning with a handsome margin. In 2019 the former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had won from here defeating his nearest BJP rival Dinesh Pratap Singh with a heavy margin of 1. 67 lakh votes. Mrs Sonia Gandhi had left Rai Bareilly giving adieu to election politics few months ago after she was elected to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan due to her compelling health reasons. On the Nehru Gandhi prime seat Amethi earlier represented by Sanjay Gandhi, former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi , the Gandhi family has given ticket to its close confident Kishori Lal Sharma who had been nursing Rae Bareilly and Amethi constituencies for the last several decades. The family confident Kishori Lal has won from Amethi securing 3,17, 342 votes till 3 PM with BJP heavy weight and union minister Smriti Irani trailing by 1,43,960 votes. This is a huge defeat to Smriti Irani a vociferous BJP minister and strong opponent of Gandhi Nehru family. In 2019 Smriti Irani had defeated Rahul Gandhi by a margin of 50000 votes. Rahul was then also contesting from Wayanad, Kerala from where he had win by a massive margin. He had retained Wayanad and this time preferred Wayanad to Amethi . But after the pressure from the family and mother Sonia Gandhi he agreed to contest from Rai Bareilly. The defeat of Smriti Irani from Amethi by a comparatively not much popular candidate of Congress K.L Sharma is indeed a huge defeat for a most vociferous union minister and strong opponent of Nehru Gandhi family. The Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi extensively campaigned in both Rae Bareilly and Amethi constituencies in favour of her brother Rahul and K.L.Sharma thus playing a vital role in defeating Smriti Irani and Dinesh Pratap Singh, the BJP candidates, keeping the Congress and Gandhi family strongholds intact.
