Delhi AAP minister Atishi charges LG to have directed DP to slow down voting in areas dominated by INDIA voters
The national capital is going to polls on 25 th , this being the sixth round of polling. Eight states are going to polls tomorrow including the Anantnag constituency in Jammu and Kashmir where the voting was adjourned in the Phase three polling. In addition to this the polling in 42 constituencies of Odisha assembly will also be held simultaneously. Around 11.13 crore voters would be casting their votes on 25 May in 58 constituencies of eight states with Delhi going to polls in 7 constituencies, UP on 24, Haryana on 10 seats, West Bengal and Bihar on eight seats each, six seats in Orissa, four in Jharkhand and one seat in Kashmir. Meanwhile, the Delhi minister Atishi Marlena has in a post on X charged the Lt Governor for allegedly directing the Delhi police to slow the voting in areas dominated by INDIA alliance voters. She wrote : Information has been received that today @LtGovDelhi has ordered Delhi Police to slow down the voting in those areas where there are a large number of INDIA alliance voters so that people do not face difficulty in casting their votes. Any such attempt by the administration to make the BJP win is illegal, undemocratic and unconstitutional. And I hope the Election Commission will take cognizance of this, and stop any such attempt.
In Delhi there is a direct fight between INDIA candidates of AAP, Congress and the Bhartiya Janata Party. The Congress is contesting on three seats and the AAP on four parliamentary constituencies. It may be recalled that the Bhartiya Janata Party had been representing from all the seven Lok Sabha since the last ten years. The saffron party is confident of repeating this time as well whereas the INDIA conglomerate says that the AAP and Congress candidates will surely win this time banking on the sympathy votes in favour of AAP national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival who has one out of jail on 21 days on interim bail granted by the Apex court. This is the first time that AAP and Congress are in alliance in Delhi, Haryana and Gujarat. However, in Punjab the AAM ADMI Party and Congress are fighting against each other with BJP and Akali Dal also in the fray. In 2013-14 when the AAM Admi Party had won in Delhi for the very first time then in order to restrict BJP form the government the Congress had extended the support of its 8 MLAs. After Modi came to power at the centre in 2014 , there were re election in Delhi and the AAP had won with absolute majority securing 67 seats n Congress none with BJP coming down to mere three seats out of total 32 in the previous assembly.
