Several Harish Rawat’s trusted Congressmen n leaders in Haridwar join BJP. Rawat active energetically in campaigning at the age of 75
While it was literally a cakewalk for BJP when Harish Rawat’s son Virendra Rawat was declared the Congress candidate from Haridwar in comparison to BJP’s Trivendra Singh Rawat , who had been the chief minister of Uttarakhand , the former Congress CM Harish Rawat by the dint of his hard work and hectic involvement seeking support for his politically novice son has made the contest in the religious city extremely competitive and one to one fight with the saffron party. The entry of Umesh Kumar in the fray who is the lawmaker from Khanpur as an independent candidate has added another dimension to the contest making it more interesting. It is believed that he is more a spoiler for Harish Rawat ‘s son and Congress votes than to BJP. Earlier he was one of the contenders for Congress ticket from Haridwar after meeting the chief Uttarakhand observer and former union minister Kumari Shailja. Had Harish Rawat not stuck to his stand solidly asking ticket for his son Virendra Rawat , Umesh Kumar, Khanpur MLA would have got it through manipulations. He is the same journalist, the then owner of Samachar Plus channel who had conducted the string operation on Harish Rawat, then CM of Uttarakhand in 2016 interacting on the horse trading issue when Rawat’s government was under threat after 9 -11 MLAs had changed sides to BJP.
This issue was extremely propagated by the electronics and print media bringing immense disrepute to Harish Rawat whose government was finally destabilised and he lost the top post of the state. Even the CBI has registered a case against Rawat n Umesh still under process. Everyone knows that Haridwar is a religious township that influences the majority community votes but the incredible presence of Muslim votes around two lakhs or so, are a strong ray of hope for Congress candidate, in case these minorities votes come in the lap of the Congress candidate’s en bloc which is not always possible. The Dalits votes are also in sizeable numbers here meaning – the minority and dalit votes are decisive factors in the religious constituency Haridwar that has 14 assembly sests. However, if majority community votes polarise as before on the pretext of the Ram temple construction n Modi factor etc then Trivendra Singh Rawat will definitely have his full say undoubtedly reveal sources.
Meanwhile, former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat has suffered a big shock in Haridwar today. Leaders close to him who are working hard to make his son Virendra Rawat win the elections, have left Congress. Harish Rawat is facing a battle to save his reputation, that is why he is working hard day and night, but now his own close leaders have started shunning him reveal sources. To substantiate this point Purushottam Sharma, who was OSD of Harish Rawat, has joined BJP today.
Apart from this, Rajesh Rastogi, who was the president of Congress Seva Dal for a long time in Uttarakhand, has also joined BJP. Rajesh Rastogi is also considered close to Harish Rawat. In the company of saints and in the presence of BJP Uttarakhand State President Mahendra Bhatt and former CM and Haridwar Lok Sabha candidate Trivendra Singh Rawat, hundreds of his supporters have joined Modi’s family under the leadership of Supreme President Chetan Jyoti Swami Rishishwaranand and senior Congress leader Purushottam Sharma in Haridwar today, reveal news reports.
Haridwar BJP candidate and former CM Trivendra and state president Mahendra Bhatt welcomed everyone on joining the Modi family by joining the BJP.
However, 75 years old Harish Rawat is fully energetic and busy in hectic campaigning posting pictures on X and writing :
By doing public relations in #छिद्दरवाला of Rishikesh assembly constituency, he requested the residents of the area to press #बटन in front of #हाथ_के_पंजे on the coming 19th April and appeal to make Haridwar Lok Sabha Congress candidate Shri
@virenderrawatuk ji victorious with huge votes.
