Dr.Harak Singh Rawat’s daughter in law, former beauty Queen turned politician Anukriti leaves Congress. May join BJP ?
In Uttarakhand, Congress party which is already faction ridden and some of its senior most leaders not ready to contest despite party high command requesting them is facing jolt after jolt when its leaders, even one of the MLAs have defected to Bhartiya Janata Party at the nick of the time when elections have already been declared and polling taking place on 19 th April, 2024. While till date one popular MLA from Badrinath and former cabinet minister in Uttarakhand government Rajendra Bhandari has joined BJP several former MLAs and defeated candidates have joined the saffron party with Anil Baluni, the national media incharge and parliamentary candidate from Pauri Garhwal present on the dias welcoming them, obviously giving a clear indication that he is the one engineering defections in Congress party. Today, the immediate rival of Anil Baluni, Congress candidate Ganesh Godiyal criticized the BJP for sending him notice fearing the defeat of its candidate. They are awestruck and highly apprehensive of losing from Pauri Garhwal said Ganesh Godiyal pointing towards his rival candidate Anil Baluni. Godiyal and his wife and child received three notices of IT asking them to be present at Thane IT office, Mumbai on 22 nd March, 2024.
Meanwhile, according to the latest news the daughter in law of Dr.Harak Singh , Congress leader and former minister who is Congress observer from Odissa namely Anukriti Gusain, a former beauty queen has resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party.
This obviously means that she will join the BJP. It may be recalled that there are ED and CBI cases against his father in law Dr.Harak Singh and several raids were conducted at various locations in Garhwal, Delhi, HP etc and ammount of more than a crore recovered. Dr.Rawat has been charged for illegally felling of hundreds of trees in Jim Corbett park and irregularities done with government budget etc. Dr.Harak Singh Rawat was then the Forest minister during the BJP rule and had later on shifted ideological loyalty from BJP to his parent party Congress.
It is believed that the pressure of these cases have led to Anukriti Gusain leaving Congress party at the time of elections. She was the Congress candidate from Lansdowne , GARHWAL and had lost at the hands of the BJP sitting MLA Dilip Rawat.
On the other hand Dr. Harak Singh Rawat who has been made the observer of Orissa State, is still longing for party ticket from Haridwar where sources reveal that the name of the former CM Harish Rawat is on the top but Rawat is refusing to contest on health reasons asking the ticket for his son Virendra Rawat who had been the Youth Congress chief of Uttarakhand before 2016. Rawat wants that his son carries forward the father’s political LEGACY not the daughter on whose name the party agreed but not Rawat n the daughter due to personal compelling reason. She is the MLA from Haridwar rural area.
It may be recalled that yesterday the Pauri Garhwal BJP candidate was at Lansdowne from where Anukriti had contested as Congress candidate in 2022 assembly constituency but lost. Anil Baluni addressed a public meeting and held a road show. May be during his stay at Lansdowne Anukriti must have been assured of something fruitful, though this is mere assumption. The other day she quit Congress, the parent party which accorded her the party ticket at such a young age without her single percent contribution in social services and politics. This is how the character of politics have changed these days.
