Congress chief appoints coordinators for five parliamentary constituencies of Uttarakhand in view of upcoming general elections
While the ruling political dispensation at the centre and majority of the states led by charismatic leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi and its ally NDA are busy in seat adjustments with BJP having a major say on 90% of the seats , the India National Developmental Inclusive Alliance ( INDIA) and its major partner Congress party has also commenced the seat adjustment exercise at state levels with agreeing to give four parliament seats to AAP and three to Congress in the national capital.
As a sequel to the ongoing exercise of preparations before the commencement of general elections the Congress party has declared its coordinators for the five parliamentary seats in Garhwal and Kumaon regions of Uttarakhand.
The major constituent of INDIA Congress has lost for the second time in state assembly elections in 2022 with BJP breaking the myth of opposition party forming government in Uttarakhand after every assembly election.
The Modi Charisma and a Congress leader’s announcement for constructing a Muslim university had annoyed the majority community during the assembly elections of 2022 leading to saffron party repeating for the second consecutive term.
The Congress party this time wants to perform well, rather excellently exploiting on the anti incumbency of the ruling BJP in the state on various factors viz issues of concrete land act, residential proof being 1950 issue, Ankita Bhandari case in which the BJP leader’s son and his cohorts have been named, the examination cheating scam etc, but the BJP is banking on the Ram Mandir consecration issue majorly with exercise to polarise the issue manifold to exploit it to its fullest advantage during the national elections.
To tide over the BJP’s polarizing efforts this time and turn the tables down against the saffron party, the Congress in Uttarakhand has announced its coordinators in all the parliament constituencies.
According to the list of new coordinators announced by the general secretary ( Organisation) K. C. Venugopal from Garhwal ( Pauri Garhwal) Vikram Singh has been appointed as the observer/ coordinator while from Tehri Garhwal, the former minister and ex MLA from Tehri Mantri Prasad Naithani was nominated. From Almora SC constituency Dr. Jeet Ram has been given the responsibility whereas from Nainital Udham Singh Nagar the former minister and speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal was chosen. Govind Singh Kunjwal is a veteran Congressman and Harish Rawat protege. Mr. Ganesh Godiyal, a former MLA from Srinagar, Garhwal brought into politics more than two decades ago by Satpal Maharaj and also former state Congress chief have been given the charge of Haridwar.
According to the press release the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed the Constituency wise coordinators for the upcoming general election 2024 as enclosed with immediate effect.
