CONGRESS HIGH COMMAND WARNS STATE LEADERS TO UNIFY OR FACE THE MUSIC. CONGRESS TO REVITALISE THE ORGANISATION AT GRASS ROOT LEVEL IN VIEW OF THE FAST APPROACHING GENERAL ELECTIONS

After the shocking defeat of Congress party in three states of Hindi heartland viz Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan and the national elections almost nearing, the 135 years old political party that had ruled India for more than 60 years at the centre and in several states of the country is now trying hard to resurrect itself in every state of the country.

The Modi charisma of the EVM related defeat has indeed terrorised the Congress and I. N. D. I. A. Bloc parties, especially after the recent debacle in four states of the country.

As a sequel to its exercise to review the party organisation in various states of the country, in Uttarakhand the central leadership has issued clear cut directives to the state leadership and group of leaders busy in infighting to unify themselves and strengthen the organisation at the grass root levels or be prepared to face the music.

The Congress party has for the first time during the last twenty two years lost for the second time at the hands of the saffron party not only in national elections losing all the five seats but also losing the state assembly elections back to back.

Therefore the central High command this time is in no mood to witness the hatrick of shameful defeat at the hands of the BJP which is already busy polarizing the majority community votes as usual on the issues of existence of Mazaars, Ram temple construction, Chardham Pilgrimage and likely implementation of the Uniform Civil Code etc.

These are the issues that touch the religious nerves of the majority community and give the saffron party tremendous mileage, usually.

According to the latest news report the central High command has issued clear cut instructions to the state leadership to appoint 70 heads or in charge in all the seventy assembly constituencies including assigning major responsibilities to all the senior leaders of Uttarakhand Congress to manage five parliamentary seats and ensure that all the five seats go to Congress come what may, encashing not only the anti incumbency factors but by way of strengthening the party organisation at the grass root levels and energising the complacent leaders and workers sitting at home or stuck in Dehradun not ready to go to interiors.

In Congress party while there are three factions led by former CM Harish Rawat, former minister and present leader of the opposition Yashpal Arya and former opposition leader Pritam Singh with State chief being the fourth segment, the party’s maximum protest programmes are held in Dehradun leading to no activities at the grass roots in the interior blocks which are essential segments to entice the voters.

This has led to Congress party losing its stronghold at the grass root levels with the saffron party having Mahila mangal dals, Kirtan Mandalies, RSS volunteers at village level and advantage of free ration being distributed in villages etc.

Apart from this the WhatsApp university is at play on a massive scale. In addition to this, the BJP is banking on Ram Mandir issue, UCC issue and polarisation among Hindus by way of raising the issue of Mazaars coming up in Uttarakhand on government land illegally etc.

The Congress party and its state chief Karan Mahara on the other hand, especially after receiving instructions from the central High command has concentrated his entire efforts and energy on unifying the leaders of Uttarakhand and trying hard to energise and revitalise the party at the decentralised level by appointing 70 heads in 70 assembly constituencies and organising mass contact programmes, meeting and interactive sessions at the block levels etc.

The Congress party has the biggest advantage this time to bank on the anti incumbency factor and issues of corruption etc but the state leadership will have to bring into confidence all its warring leaders and factions to forget at least for the time being their personal differences and futile egos and unitedly counter the Modi influence as well as the BJP’s pro Hindu polarisation aspect.

There are reports that the Congress party’s central high command is trying to take the services of all the leaders of warring factions like Harish Rawat, Yashpal Arya, Dr. Harak Singh Rawat, Tilak Raj Behad and Pritam Singh including its state chief Karan Mahara. It was only because of the incessant differences going on in Uttarakhand Congress between Harish Rawat, Pritam Singh, Yashpal Arya etc that the state president ship was given to a neutral face Karan Mahara. However, despite all this, Pritam Singh never cooperated with Karan Mahara and ran his juggernaut separately not even participating in the programmes of Harish Rawat considering him as his strongest opponent and vice versa.

The greatest advantage that Congress can exploit to its benefit this time is taking advantage out of the infighting within the BJP leaders and MPs in Uttarakhand who are trying to sideline each other to put forth their claims in the five parliamentary seats as there are reports that several sitting MPs’ heads will be rolled down this time weighing their poor performance and inactivity during the past five years etc.
