Massive landslide occurred near Chamba Thana, Tehri Garhwal. SDRF and police busy in rescue operation. C.M. in Delhi.
In Uttarakhand, especially in its Garhwal region good number of unfortunate incidents of landslides and subsequent deaths have been witnessed with the state government and its disaster management bodies always on proactive mode trying to cope with the critical situations. Just few days ago a massive landslide has occurred at Sonprayag where 7 dead bodies were recovered and rest missing out of twenty people where the rescue operation is still going on. Two dead bodies were recovered two days ago in addition to seven dead bodies. Yesterday there was a massive tragedy at Gangnani , Uttarkashi when a bus carrying around 35 pilgrims hailing from Bhavnagar Gujarat from Gangotri to Uttarkashi fell in a deep gorge killing 7 pilgrims while rest injured. As if this was not enough today morning near Chamber police station in Tehri Garhwal a massive landslide occurred again under which three children are believed to have been buried n several cars with the proactive SURE and Border police personel and local police busy in the relief operation trying to retrieve the injured children from under the debris of the landslide. A rescue team under the charge of Rakesh Rawat , head constable including the SURFACE team has reached the accident spit immediately and is busy clearing the debris with the help of JCB etc. While yesterday and today two massive tragedies have occurred due to landslides the chief minister is monitoring the situation from Delhi. Today he has met the Union energy minister presenting a gift tweeting : Met the Union energy minister RK Singh in New Delhi and requested for supply of adequate power to the tune of 400 to 450 MW from Coal base power stations to secure the state’s base load and free state from ” Power shortages” In future.
Several vehicles have also been completely damaged and buried under the rubble of this landslide.
