Kaanwad Fair at Haridwar finished on 14 July. There were 4 crores 7 lakh Kaanvadiyas taking dip in Ganges at Haridwar breaking all past records. Thirty metric tinne rubbish left behind.

The Kaanwad Yatra had finally come to an end on 15 July which started on 4 th July. All records have been beaten till date with total 4 crores , seven lakh KAANWAD YAYRIS converging at Haridwar to fill Ganga Jal and take dip in pious Ganges during the Swan season paying obeisance to Deity Ganga and, Lord Shiva. Thus has happened for the first time after so many years as during the previous years from 2011 to 2022 about 1.52, 1.95, 2.65, 3.19, 3.23, 3.70, 3.76 and 3.80 crore pilgrims and devotees have arrived in Haridwar and this year broken all records by registering 4 crore seven lakh Kaanvadiyas. The police of Haridwar and other agencies involved in rescue operation saved 64 Kanwadiyas from drowning in the Ganges while taking bath. There have been instances of some of them jumping into Ganges to take dips which is undoubtedly risky. However, despite the best efforts of the police, Haridwar administration and other agencies involved in taking care of the Kaanvadiyas, there had been tragedies as well. Despite this they helped in restoring 667 lost people, children and women to their near amd dear ones. The rush at Haridwar Kaanwad fair was so tremendous that the Haridwar Mela administration, police and other agencies connected with the arrangements had to work very hard and attentively to ensure adequate arrangements for the Kaanvadiyas. This, tone the Jal Police of Haridwar played a very vital role to ensure the safety and protection of the Kaanvadiyas, as their number was uncontrollable and came from different parts of the country as usual with different bent of minds, everyone dip in the Ganges apart from filling their cans and utensils etc. The total arrangements to maintain law and order in the Kaanwad fair were being monitored by SSP Ajay Singh and the SDRF was also extremely supportive. According to the Director General Police IPS Ashok Kumar : Heartiesy congratulations to entire Uttaralhanx police for successful completion of 2023 KAANWAD FAIR. THIS FAIR WAS EXTREMELY CHALLENGING for Uttarakhand police and die to rains this year the challenge was all the more challenging and hard. About 80% officers and 60% force were involved in the satisfactory maintenance of law and order. I thank them all tweeted DGP, Uttarakhand, Ashok Kumar.

But what is the worst part of this, Kaanwardiya fair is that they have left behind thirty metric tins of plastic bottles, discarded clothes, undergarments, plastic bags, polythenes etc. This, way Uttarakhand has become a dumping ground which will take lot of time to clear them with only a small part of clearance of the dumping material wi take place rest finally going either unnoticed or finally being dumped inside Ganges. A biggest tragedies of such festivals and religious rituals.
