Owner of a mule forcibly feeding it the weed stuffed cigarette on Kedarnath route arrested under strictest sections under animals cruelty act and other relevant sections !

Lot have been written about the the plight of the mules, equines, horses and donkeys in the recent past who’ ve been tortured by their owners for making them work extensively with loads of articles including the overweight passengers against their will climbing 14 miles from Ram Bara to Kedarnath Shrine.

These voiceless creatures face tremendous thrashings by their owners while walking upwards badly fatigued against their will serving them for hours together without rest , usually not even fed by enough water and food, maximum of them dying of dehydration.

Recently another video regarding these mules being forcibly fed with weed through smoking in Kedarnath route by their owners have gone viral raising tremendous controversies and inviting the attention of the law enforcing agencies who’ve shown apt response in arresting the defaulters under severe sections of the law.

According to the latest news two viral posts regarding the owners of mules carrying pilgrims and heavy consignments to and fro to Kedarnath and back – were seen forcibly feeding weeds to these voiceless creatures by inserting the cigarettes with weeds in their mouths compelling them for the inhale it.

These voiceless creatures were fed with weed in order to numb their senses to make them work harder and for longer hours against their will.

There had been tremendous negative responses and responses off concern urging the police of Uttarakhand to take stringent measures against these owners.

The response in social media platform has been not in hundreds but in thousands.

The social media platform’s viral video compelled the Uttarakhand police to take suo motto cognizance of the matter and arrested the owner Rakesh Singh Rawat of Guptkashi area in Rudraprayag.

According to the news Rakesh has been charged under relevant sections of IPC and prevention of cruelty act as revealed to the media by Inspector, In charge, Son Prayag police station Suresh Chand Baluni after they learnt about this shabby incident through social media post taking place at Tharu Camp, near Choti Lincholi area falling on the route to Kedarnath Shrine.

The video clearly shows these owners piercing the burnt cigarette – stuffed with weed into the mouth of the mules and forcibly closing their mouth enabling them inhale the smoke and be- coming numb.

They do so compelling them work for longer hours without any water, food etc carrying over weights to earn maximum profits from pilgrims which amounts to cruelty of the voiceless creatures. There have been reports of good number of ponies mules, horses etc dying due to malnutrition, dehydration , thrashings and over working hours at these religious destinations like Kedarnath, Amarnath high altitude hilly terrains with lot if weight on their backs and overweight pilgrims for hours together.

It’s only after the videos posted in social media by some conscious animal lovers that the Uttarakhand police and state administration came into the action mode trying to correct the situation.

One of the twitterati in social media Sunil Negi tweeted : This is unbelievable. How tortuously and cruelly they are behaving with these voiceless creatures? They should be behind bars under strictest sections of NDPS act. Just imagine how they are illegally feeding smoke with weed to a voiceless creature . Shame and condemnable tweeted Negi.
