Non BJP opposition unity efforts in full swing though it’s too early to predict whether they’ll unite credibly or not to pose challenge to PM Modi !

After Rahul Gandhi’s successful 3700 kilometres Kanyakumari to Kashmir Bharat Jodo Yatra acknowledging tremendous response and his disqualification from the membership of Lok Sabha after his utterances against Modi community allegedly targeting the prime minister having also be given two years imprisonment though stayed now, the unity efforts of non BJP opposition seem to be taking a final shape.

The second initiative to unite the non BJP opposition leaders after his earlier last September bid to do so, the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar along with his deputy Tejasvi Yadav n several state leaders had yesterday met the former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Congress chief and veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge in the presence of other JDU, RJD leaders and Congress leaders K. C. Venugopal, Salman Khurshid etc.

The meeting of these towering opposition leaders to find ways and mean to form a credible and viable national political alternative in view of fast approaching general elections of 2024 to challenge prime minister Narendra Modi holds tremendous significance especially after another veteran leader Shared Pawar dropped in at Kharge’s house in Delhi and Rahul Gandhi too holding pivotal deliberations on the ongoing unity talks, the other day.

The unity talks hold tremendous significance as not only Nitish Kumar, Tejasvi Yadav, Sharad Pawar, Mallikarjun Karge and Rahul Gandhi were closeted for few hours but the Bihar CM also met the Delhi CM and AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejrival who exhibited energetic interest in non BJP opposition unity exercise but emphasized on expediting these unity efforts on a war footing.

The tweet of Rahul Gandhi calling these anti BJP unity efforts and deliberations as historic also holds tremendous significance.

In his tweet annexing pictures of the meeting Rahul Gandhi tweeted in Hindi : In this fight of ideologies a historic step has been moved ahead in the direction of opposition unity. We are standing together and shall fight together for India tweeted Rahul Gandhi.

Kindly recall that when the Surat lower sessions Court had sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years of imprisonment for his utterances against Modi surname ridiculing prime minister Narendra Modi by his derogatory remarks and finally disqualifying him from the membership of Lok Sabha – the entire non BJP opposition including Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival, TMC chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Bannerjee, NCP Supremo Shared Pawar and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav stood unitedly to castigate the ruling BJP top leadership standing on the side of Rahul Gandhi sending a positive signal among the anti BJP opposition parties – national and regional that now is the right time to forget the personal vested interests and stand in unity especially in view of the fast approaching 2024 national elections, learning lessons from the past bitter experiences.

Not wasting a single moment, the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and Laloo Yadav’s son and deputy CM Bihar Tejasvi Yadav thereafter also met the Congress and AAP leaders and deliberated on non BJP opposition unity enticing favourable response with Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival showing tremendous enthusiasm to cooperate in future urging bringing maximum anti BJP opposition leaders and parties – regional and national into its fold.

There are reports that efforts are being made to take Mamta Bannerjee and Akhilesh Yadav into full confidence in the near future.

It is believed that after Rahul Gandhi’s most successful Bharat Jodo Yatra and the vindictive attitude of the ruling BJP to disqualify him from the Lok Sabha membership, he has now become extremely popular and relevant in Indian politics as a strong leader of the oldest 135 year old Congress party. Moreover, after TMC has lost its national recognition as a Rashtriya Party the political morale of West Bengal CM Mamta Bannerjee has also been lessened who was earlier trying to sideline Rahul Gandhi and Congress from opposition unity exercise. However, the political morale of AAP chief Arvind Kejrival has enhanced tremendously after it got national stature by the election commission. Even, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has now changed his anti Congress posture and stood in favour of Rahul Gandhi after his disqualification castigating BJP top leadership.

There are reports that till now the leadership issue has not been discussed by the various opposition parties till now there is possibility of collective leadership formula to be arrived at in the near future leaving the non BJP prime ministerial candidate issue to be decided after the elections are completed to avoid any confusion and squabbles among the prospective contenders.
