Hundreds of residents of Joshimath Nagar hold protest demonstration against govt authorities for not hearing to the grievances of nearly three hundred houses likely to collapse due to cracks !

Hundreds of annoyed, angered, furious and disenchanted people of Joshimath, in Chamoli district of Garhwal Uttarakhand protested in Joshimath Nagar raising their vociferous voice against the stagnant apathetic attitude of the state government despite their repeated pleas and request to the chief minister and the concerned departments to resolve their genuine woes regarding the deep and wide cracks developed in their houses posing direct threat to their lives and lives of their children.

Large number of women, men, youth and senior citizens were present in this protest demonstration raising anti government slogans demanding immediate relief to the residents of more than three hundred houses which had developed cracks and likely to demolish, even in the slightest of tremors or rains n snow coming in.

In view of the non seriousness of the concerned authorities, not paying any need to their grievances not giving them alternative safe accommodations, the resident with wide cracks in their respected houses are compelled to live there not knowing when would these houses collapse leading to their ill fates.

The situation in Joshimath Nagar is so critical that the owners of these houses are in unpredictable position not knowing where to go and when completely depending on the administration not responding to their calls.

The leader of protest demonstration Atul Sati while addressing the assembled crowd lauded the unity among the residents of Joshimath Nagar and urged them to be United to fight for this genuine cause not coming under the manipulation of authorities who would try to disrupt their unity to weaken the movement.

Atul Sati while expressing his serious concern over the developing cracks in majority of houses in various, wards of Joshimath Nagar catagorically said that the earth beneath is shifting its base on day to day basis resulting in cracks generating in majority of the houses.

These symptoms of rapid cave ins or landslides and increasing cracks in houses becoming wide day by day can result in massive disaster even when an earthquake of 4 on the richter scale would arrive not to speak on 6 or 7 measurement on Richter scale.

The situation in Joshimath and its surrounding periphery is so critical that even a small earthquake would prove highly disastrous to the living population of Joshimath in Chamoli district said comrade Sati.

It may be recalled that the NTPC Vishugad Hydropower project’s huge tunnels being built underground and some left in between are reportedly the reasons for these cracks in majority of the houses of Joshimath Nagar.

However, the NTPC authorities have denied it having taken journalists in the tunnel to substantiate their argument regarding NTPC’s ongoing project not at all responsible for the same.
