Veteran journo and socio political activist Avtar Negi remembered and tributes paid at Uttarakhand Sadan on Saturday
A prominent activist of separate Uttarakhand movement and renowned journalist Avtar Singh Negi was today remembered and heartfelt richest tributes paid to him at Uttarakhand Sadan, Chankyapuri in a condolence meeting organised by ” Chinhit Rajya Rajya Andolan Kari Samyukta Samittee”. Veteran journalist, writer, socio political activist and a relentless fighter Avtar Singh Negi breathed his last, last month in New Delhi leaving behind his anguished wife and two married daughters.
The condolence meeting was organised by Uttarakhand Congress’s Vice president Dhirendra Pratap and presided over by veteran separate state Uttarakhand movement activist and Negi’s colleague Shashi Bhushan Khanduri.

All the speaker’s while paying their deepest condolences to the bereaved family paid their richest heartfelt tributes to Avtar Singh Negi lauding his significant contribution to the cause of separate Uttarakhand state as a relentless fighter and a renowned journalist with his career spanning over four decades. Terming Avtar Negi as a renowned socio political leader of Uttarakhand apart from being a veteran journalist of repute having been associated with PTI Bhasha, German Radio, India TV, Doordarshan News, several journals n newspapers and with Press Club of India and Uttarakhand Patrakaar Parishad as its founder general secretary, all the speakers said that the void left behind by him in the journalistic fraternity and Uttarakhand will never be filled ever.
Veteran Andolan Kari Shashi Bhushan Khanduri while cincludung the meeting said that Avtar Negi was the symbol of bravery, courage and determination who dedicated his entire life fighting against social evils and noble cause of separate Uttarakhand movement including confronting and opposing exploitation of journos and attacks on journalists while on the line of duty, tooth and nail. His untimely passing away will always be felt and his dedication and selfless contribution towards impartial journalism, secularism, socialism and Uttarakhand always remembered by one and all said majority of tge speakers.
An unanimous need was felt to establish an organisation to carry forward the values, principles and ethics of Negiji in the coming years to inspire the present generation with determination and courage to incline themselves towards the language, culture and traditions of Uttarakhand for which Avtar Negi and several other iconic personalities of the hilly state struggled hard during their lifetime.
