Four former Punjab ministers and ex MLAs of Congress n Akali Dal join BJP. Jolt to Congress yet again
After the shameful defeat of the Congress candidate in Champawat assembly constituency against Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami losing security deposit getting merely 3,233 votes against more than 55000 votes of Dhami, the party has again suffered a, severe setback in Punjab where four of its former ministers had joined BJP on Saturday at the behest of Captain Amrinder Singh welcomed by none other than the Union home minister Amit Shah, also the chief strategist of the ruling party.
The four former state ministers having joined the BJP are Dr Raj Kumar Verka, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Gurpreet Singh Kangar and, Sunder Sham Arora.
Just few days ago a strong pillar of Congress, former lawmaker, leader of the opposition in Punjab earlier and son of former union minister and former speaker of Parliament, a towering Congress leader late Dr. Balram Jakhar Sunil Jakhar had also quit the party whose family had more than four decades of association with Congress expressing his immense disenchantment over his sidelining in the party for being a non Sikh snatching from him, his chances of being the Punjab CM after the then CM Captain Amrinder Singh was unceremoniously ousted as the state’s successful CM under whose leadership the party won in state as well as parliamentary elections in Punjab against the saffron party’s Modi charismatic wave.
Not only this but the towering former Congress CM n undisputed leader then Captain Amrinder Singh too had joined BJP after the Congress’s shameful defeat at the hands of AAP, a dream of Captain having come true to show dust to the party that ignored him completely.
Meanwhile, former Congress lawmaker from Barnala, Kewal Singh Dhillon, former Akali Dal lawmakers Swarup Chand Singla and Mohinder Kaur Joshi also joined the BJP in the presence of home minister Amit Shah along with four former Punjab ministers.
Kindly recall that the former Punjab opposition leader and lawmaker Sunil Jakhar had revolted against his party when the top leadership along with important party leaders were busy in Nav Sankalp Shivir in Udaipur devising ways and means, a formidable strategy to ensure the BJP’s defeat in 2024 national elections few weeks ago.
After several important leaders having already left Congress n important leader Kapil Sibal too quitting the party recently, the road ahead for Congress party seems to be extremely difficult and cumbersome reveal news analysts.
Meanwhile former Punjab CM Captain Amrinder Singh while extending his best wishes to all the four former Punjab ministers for joining BJP terming it as a wise and a right decision said this is just a tip of an iceberg.
