National level shooter Aarushi successfully journeyed on a special Climate Force Expedition to Antartica

A national level shooter, multi time state & northern India champion & national
medalist and an active environmentalist, Aarushi Rana, successfully journeyed on a special Climate Force Expedition to Antarctica during 17th -29th March 2022.

A team of 160 individuals, which comprised of scientists, sustainability leaders & practitioners, selected from over 34 countries, journeyed to the South Pole to witness the effects of Climate Change in Antarctica and understand ways to combat climate change in their own communities, institutions,
companies & governments in order to benefit this beautiful planet we all call home.

The expedition aimed to raise awareness for the urgent need to work for preservation of Antarctica.

Antarctica represents both our past and future within its ice. If the ice sheets keep melting at the current rate of deterioration, the sea levels will rise and the disastrous effects will be felt on a multinational scale.

Antarctica has never known war, belongs to no nation & is home to no tribe or
indigenous race – we are all responsible for Antarctica.

The experts say that the ice is melting due towarming and the north & south poles could be ice free as early as 2030.

Summers at the poles are already experiencing 75% less ice as it was 50 years ago. As a result, a humanitarian crisis is unfolding with floods, droughts, famine and rising sea levels being witnessed n experienced globally.

Climate Force Antarctica expedition, led by Robert Swan, the first, in history to have walked to both north & south poles, was a unique 12 day educational journey where global leaders &
sustainability experts like – Michele Malejki (global head for corporate sustainability at Hewlett Packard) , Gez Draycott (Vice President, satellite engineering, SES) & David Hone (senior Palaeontologist at Queen Mary University & writer for NatGeo, The Guardian, Telegram & HuffPost) shared their knowledge & experience with the participants to train them on up-to-date climate science, renewable energy & sustainability.

The team ventured to the bottom of the world following the footsteps of some of the bravest
explorers in history and witnessed icebergs & glaciers along with abundance of wildlife including whales, penguins & seals while sailing on the icy waters of Antarctica.

The participants set foot on the 7th continent of the world, and hiked upon the icy landscape of Antarctica. Visited the renowned research station of Vernadsky Research Base, travelled through Neptune’s Bellows and stepped into the deep-rooted whaling history of the famed Deception Island as they witnessed the volcanic formations around.

This expedition was an opportunity for the participants to connect with & learn from the natural environments most affected by climate change and to realise the urgent need for real-world solutions to address these issues.

In this initiative, Aarushi was fully supported & sponsored by The Hans Foundation, a public charitable trust that works towards creating an equitable society and work primarily for health, education, Livelihood & disaster relief interventions in rural & underdeveloped areas in the country.

The Hans foundation firmly believes in the importance of women empowerment in the country & promotes women leaders in all its initiatives and believes that disaster prevention requires ecological balance and an attitude of stewardship towards the environment.

After successfully completing this expedition, Aarushi has now graduated as an ‘ambassador of Antarctica’ and aims to work for preservation of Antarctica by promotion of renewable energy & eco- friendly interior design solutions through her interior design firm.

She will also be interacting with
school children to spread awareness about National shooter Aarushi Rana successfully climate change & global warming in Antarctica and influence them to take small steps in their communities & contribute in this fight against climate change.
