Case registered under various sections against illegal mining mafia in CM’ s previous constituency “Khatima”, for tearing the uniform of forest Daroga and attacking forest employees

The Nasha of power knows no bounds. This, usually happens when some of the party supporters or protagonists after securing power think that they are indispensable, can go scot free with any amount of illegal work. Uttarakhand is, already allegedly infamous for land grabs and illegal mining with political leaders allegedly favouring, protecting or patronising the land grabbers, illegal miners or contractors involved in shabby businesses, minting exorbitant profits. According to reports pouring in, the morale of the illegal mining mafias in the constituency of the 12th CM of Uttarakhand namely Khatima from where he had lost this time, having represented it twice earlier, but became CM on the choice of the BJP high command, are quite high, least bothered by the uniformed police or its terror of law. The mining mafia is so brave and uncaring for the law of the land that not only had they attacked the forest employees on duty but had on Tuesday literally torn the uniform of the forest officer ( Von Daroga) , probably, thrashing him as well. Such obnoxious incidents by mining mafia in Uttarakhand had already happened with certain politicians in power safeguarding or patronising them. There had been several news reports during the previous regime that one of the staff members of the then CM Pushkar Singh Dhami had written a, string recommendatory letters on the CM’ office’s letter heads with official stamp instructing the police officers to leave the forfeited or captured dumpers, trolleys etc of the mining mafias. The copies of the letters written by one of the staff members were published in print n electronics media and were shared in social media as well, bringing bad name for the ruling party as well as the CM, finally taking him to task. However, in the present matter, a police case under relevant sections have been registered in the police station of Khatima against the mining mafia Mannu Dhami and other absconding culprits, reveal news reports. According to the latest news the forest department had acknowledged an information about illegal mining going on seamlessly on number 9 section of Jhankaiya class of Lohiaghat beat as a result of which the forest officer Uttam Singh Rana along with his force reached the illegal mining area to grab and arrest them. But involved in illegal mining Maan Singh Dhami alias Mannu Dhami of Chouda Pani, under Jhankaiya police station, Udham Singh Nagar alongwith his goons attacked the forest staff. Not only this but they also tore the uniform of forest inspector threatening him with dire consequences, costing his life etc. However, the forest department guards and vigilant staff overpowered Mannu Dhami and caught him though his other accomplices ran away. The vigilant forest guards handed Mannu Dhami, illegal miner to the police and a case was registered under sections 332,353, 186,504, and under Mining Acts etc etc. The forest department also confiscated the equipments used in illegal mining like trolley n dumpers etc. There is quite a furore in the political circles of Uttarakhand after this incident especially in ruling party corridors, particularly after the former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat had allegedly accused the BJP state leaders including former CM then, for patronising the illegal mining mafias allegedly targetting CM Pushkar Singh Dhami for patronising them.
