238 Agniveers of the Garhwal Rifles Awarded Diploma in Defense and Security Management

At a formal convocation held at the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre, Lansdowne, on Friday, 238 Agniveers were awarded the Diploma in Defense and Security Management by Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. This was a historic, first-of-its-kind occasion, where Agniveers were honored for their academic achievement along with their military training.




This diploma program is a joint effort between the Garhwal Rifles and HNB Garhwal University. Its objective is to strengthen the academic qualifications, professional skills, and long-term employability of Agniveers.
The curriculum is designed to develop defense studies, security management, leadership skills, disaster response, communication capabilities, and an understanding of contemporary security challenges.
Through this course, Agniveers were prepared for military service as well as modern professional requirements.
Senior Army officials speaking on the occasion said that this initiative reflects the Indian Army’s vision of combining military training with academic excellence to create a competent and skilled workforce for the future. The successful completion of this program by 238 Agniveers is a testament to their dedication to self-development, discipline, and continuous learning.
Receiving the diploma will enhance the professional capabilities of the Agniveers during their military service, while also providing them with a nationally recognized academic qualification, opening up new opportunities for higher education and future careers.
Senior officials from GRRC and HNB Garhwal University were present at the ceremony and appreciated the achievements of the Agniveers.
The Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre reiterated its commitment to prepare disciplined, educated and competent soldiers to meet the emerging challenges of national security as well as society.
