Former Secretary I & B and President of Uttarayini N. P. Navani in no more. RIP

The former president of the class one officers Association of Uttarakhand, IAS officer of 1969 Tripura Batch and secretary of Information and Broadcasting ministry N. P. Navani died on Wednesday at his OCS apartment house in Mayur Vihar.
Credited for establishing Prasar Bharti and bringing FM Radio in India Navani’s sad demise has send shock waves in Uttarakhand , especially in Uttarayini fraternity.
The second president of Uttarayini social organisation comprising of class one officers of state and central governments N. P. Navani had retired from 1997 as secretary In B ministry. He was later on given the pivotal responsibility as member of Central Administrative Tribunal, Jaipur Chapter, Founding chairman of Uttaranchal Lok Sewa Ayog and secretary general of Indian Broadcasting Foundation. But due to his love and affection towards Uttarakhand Mr. Navani dedicated himself in the activities of Uttarayini. It was under his able leadership of Uttarayini that this organisation played its vital role in submitting their invaluable suggestions and advice in the formation of Uttarakhand and reorganisation of Uttar Pradesh. Navaniji also contributed healthily by way of his significant articles on important subjects titled : The emerging state of Uttaranchal : Challenges and Future. Shaking Himalayas, Shrinking Morale : Facing the Future, Chipko and new Beej Bachao Andolan etc. In the year 2011 he had also brought out a book of his complied articles on Uttarakhand in Hindi titled : Mere Lekh Mila Jula Guldasta”, ( My Articles, an amalgamated Bouquet). According to the another former Presidents of Uttarayini and former DIG Mr. Bahuguna n current president Mr Suyal, though he wasn’t keeping good health due to his age related complications, not able to take part in the activities of Uttarayini, whenever we visited him, he was always worried about Uttarayini and Uttarakhand and was curious to know about its activities.
It may be recalled that Mr. N. P. Nawani had served on various important posts and assignments as Joint Secretary Home, ( Police), Joint Secretary Sugar, in ministry of Agriculture. He was also member of Uttarakhand Public Service Commission along with the present NSA Ajit Doval. He was also additional secretary in ministry of Agriculture prior to serving as Secretary I n B. He also served as Chief Secretary of Tripura Govt.
He was the first Chairman of Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC), appointed by the first CM of the State late Nityanand Swami. Mr Nawani used to write articles on local issues of Uttarakhand in Garhwal Post news paper, the then english weekly paper published from Dehradun by Satish Sharma said Bhuvan Chand Nautiyal from Karnaprayag.
Conclusively he was unmatched in his profession and retired as Secretary, Govt. of India. We pray the God to spare highest place in his heavenly abode for resting his soul and give strength to the family members to bear this irreparable loss said K. N. Suyal present president of Uttarayini.
Late Nawani was native of village Eroli, Patti- Malla Chandpur, District Chamoli Garhwal (Uttarakhand). May his soul rest in peace.
