It is essential for a journalist to be trustworthy, dynamic, and mobile says Govind Singh, Chairman Uttarakhand Advisory Committe of the CM


The Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Uttarakhand, organized a grand event in Haldwani on Saturday to mark Narada Jayanti. More than 60 journalists who have made significant contributions to journalism and social life were honored with robes. The program included extensive discussions on the role of media in nation-building, social awakening, and Indian thought.
The program was inaugurated by lighting a lamp collectively by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Regional Publicity Chief Shri Padam Ji, State Media Advisory Committee Chairman Prof. Govind Singh, State Co-Promotion Chief Dr. Brijesh Bankoti, Deputy Labor Commissioner Kamal Joshi and Principal of MBPG College Dr. Narendra Bankoti.
At the beginning of the program, Co-Provincial Publicity Chief Dr. Brijesh Bankoti highlighted the importance of Narada Jayanti and said that the work of social awakening can be done effectively only through dialogue.
He said that the purpose of this event is to honor journalists and establish positive dialogue with them. Journalism is not just a profession, but an important medium for responsibility and nation-building.
Key speaker, Shri Padma Ji, Regional Publicity Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, said that the media’s responsibility is not only to show society the right direction but also to hold a mirror to it.
He said that the media must also play a positive role in the decisive role India is playing on the global stage today. Bringing forward the noble forces of society through journalism and fostering healthy discourse within society is the need of the hour.
Chief guest, Professor Govind Singh, Chairman of the State Media Advisory Committee, said in his address that Adi Rishi Narada was the world’s first communicator.
He said that Western journalism emphasizes negativity, while Indian tradition has been based on truth and values. Indian history reflects the integration of Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha, while the Western perspective lacks idealism.
He said that it is essential for a journalist to be trustworthy, dynamic, and mobile, and all these qualities can be learned from the sage Narada.
Journalists should always keep their eyes and ears open and be ready to absorb new information and changes. He called for journalism to be conducted with a nation-first spirit, focusing on society and national interests.
Presiding over the program, Deputy Labor Commissioner Kamal Joshi described the event as meaningful and said that journalism is an effective medium for social welfare and public awareness.
MBPG College Principal Dr. Narendra Bankoti expressed his gratitude to all the guests, journalists, and attendees. The program was conducted by District Publicity Chief Pradeep Lohani.
In the Narad Jayanti programme, senior journalists Bhagwan Singh Gangola from Haldwani, Arvind Kumar Singh from Udham Singh Nagar, Ravindra Devliyal from Nainital, Mayank Pant from Tanakpur, Jagdish Joshi from Almora etc. were honoured for their special contribution in the field of society, education, culture, literature and environment.
