A speeding bus ran over people near Dhangadhi drain
A tragic road accident took place on Monday on National Highway-309, 22 km from Ramnagar in Nainital district.
Six people waiting for the water level of the rain drain to subside near Dhangadhi drain were crushed by a speeding bus. Two people died on the spot in the accident, while four others were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to Ramnagar Joint Hospital.
High speed bus ran over people: According to eyewitnesses, at the time of the accident there were long queues of vehicles on both sides of Dhangadhi drain.
People were waiting for the water level of the drain to reduce, among them were 6 people who were waiting for the water level to reduce to go towards their destination. Meanwhile, a bus travelling at a high speed ran over them from behind.
Prima facie, the cause of the accident is believed to be the failure of the bus brakes, however, the situation will become clear only after a technical investigation. At present, the police have taken the bus into custody and started investigating the case.
Both the deceased were teachers: Two teachers are among those who lost their lives in the accident. The deceased have been identified as Surendra Singh Panwar (53 years), son of Bishan Singh Panwar, resident of Gangotri Vihar Kaniyan Ramnagar.
Surendra Singh Panwar was working as a teacher in Harna. Virendra Sharma (42 years), son of Devidutt Sharma, resident of Manila Vihar Chorpani, Ramnagar, was also posted as a teacher in Harna.
Both the teachers were going from their home to teach Harana Salt as usual.
