YET ANOTHER LEOPARD ATTACK ON A WOMAN IN CHOWBATTAKHAL BLOCK FROM WHERE SATPAL MAHARAJ IS THE LAWMAKER

Another leopard attack…
Mrs. Kanchan Devi, a resident of Devradi village in Pokhara development block under Chaubattakhal assembly constituency, was fatally attacked by a man-eating leopard this afternoon.

Local youth Ankit Kandhari risked his life to rescue her from the clutches of leopard, in which Mrs. Kanchan Devi was seriously injured.

The sudden increase in conflict between humans and wild animals and the government’s laxity in this regard, the law imposed in the name of wildlife conservation, the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, has become a matter of great concern for the villagers living in the village.

Man-eating leopards can be killed under certain circumstances to protect human life under Section 11 of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, but the government and administration are continuously procrastinating in this regard.

Despite Garhwal Lok Sabha MP Anil Baluni raising the issue in Parliament last week, no orders have been issued to shoot the man-eating tigers yet.

Once again, an appeal is made to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ji to ensure the safety of the people living in the mountains by keeping their lives above these laws.
