Woman who went to collect grass died a painful death after falling into a ditch, a wave of mourning in the village.

On Monday, a woman from Gadsir village under Narayanbagh block died a painful death after falling into a deep ditch while collecting grass in the forest.
The woman has been identified as 36-year-old Krishna Devi, wife of Manveer Singh. According to the information received, Krishna Devi had gone to cut grass in the forest of Patori along with other women of the village.
During this time, she suddenly lost her balance due to slipping of her feet and fell into a deep ditch. The women present with her immediately informed the village, after which the villagers informed the tehsil administration and asked for help.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the Revenue Police and DDRF team reached the spot with relief and rescue equipment. The team descended into the deep ditch and after a lot of effort took out the body of the woman.
Tharali Sub-District Magistrate Pankaj Bhatt, who reached the spot, said that after filling the Panchnama of the dead body, it has been sent to Sub-District Hospital Karnaprayag for post-mortem.
He consoled the family and assured them of all possible help. There is a wave of mourning in the village due to this tragic incident. The villagers have demanded from the administration to make strong arrangements for the safety of women going to forest areas.
It may be recalled that Krishna is not the only woman in the state who has met an untimely death while cutting grass or collecting wood from the forest. According to statistics, every year about 56 people, mostly women, die due to falling while collecting grass and wood.
