Woman gone to collect grass severely attacked by two wild bears in Thanau forest range , Garhwal . Grievously injured

A woman who had gone to collect grass in the forest was attacked by two wild bears, leaving her seriously injured.
The incident occurred in Kemat village of Gadul Gram Panchayat, under the Thanau Forest Range.
The forest department team admitted the injured woman to Himalayan Hospital Jolly Grant with the help of an ambulance.
Forest beat officer Vikas Ghirdiyal said that in Kemat village under Gadul Gram Panchayat, a woman who had gone to collect grass in the forest was suddenly attacked by two bears, due to which the woman was seriously injured.
The forest department team, which reached the spot after receiving the information, admitted the seriously injured woman to Himalayan Hospital Jolly Grant with the help of 108 ambulance, where she is being treated.
Social worker and local resident Sudhir Joshi said that 45-year-old Sushila, wife of Raghuveer Singh Bhandari, had gone to the forest to collect grass where she was attacked by two bears.
He said that earlier incidents of elephant and leopard attacks were seen but this is the first incident of bear attack.
Forest Range Officer Natthi lal Doval said that they are also running awareness programmes to protect people from wild animals.
He has appealed to everyone to avoid going into the forest and if they have to go, then inform the forest department team and take them along.
Village head Sweety Rawat and social worker Dharmendra Rawat said that incidents of attacks by wild animals are increasing, due to which the forest department needs to take concrete steps.
