The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami has warned the rioters and destructive elements of Haldwani, Banbhulpura riots that they will not be spared at any costs and the government will deal with them steely bringing them to justice. He categorically said that the government will retrieve every penny from these rioters for the losses inflicted by them on public and government property and would never ever tolerate such elements hell bent upon destroying the peaceful environment of the state. The chief minister was addressing a rally in Champawat today. Yesterday he had met and interacted with injured policemen after visiting the hospital and police station etc. He issued strict instructions to the SSP and DM to deal with the mischievous elements very sternly and bring them to justice at all cost and at the earliest, however politically influential he may be. Meanwhile, the SSP of Nainital Prahlad Narayan Mishra has today while addressing a press conference said that regarding the incident that took place in Police Station Banbhulpura, Haldwani area, the curfew has been relaxed in view of the needs of the people in other areas except Police Station Banbhulpura and its adjacent areas. He said that till now three FIRs have been registered and and five people have been taken under custody. Our team is identifying the remaining accused in the case. We are searching Abdul Malik, who is a named accused in this case…” The police is taking the help of the CCTV footages from various locations and several other culprits are likely to be arrested including Abdul Malik who was chiefly instrumental in building these illegal structures and a main culprit behind this sensitive disturbance. It may be recalled that about fifty n more police personnel were injured in these pre meditated riots and an SDM as, well with more than hundred vehicles burnt snx fully damage. There are also reports of about 4 to 6 persons having died during these riots.
