Wild monkeys attack an old woman in village Tamlaag, Pauri Garhwal leading to her brutal death.

It seems as if tragedies have become the synonyms of Uttarakhand. Not a day passes when accidents don’t occur here claiming several lives or maneater attacks grievously injuring or brutally killing the villagers. During the ongoing monsoon the torrential rains have also claimed several lives with colossal loss of thousands of crores of rupees and loss of precious lives. In view of the shortage and non availability of good health system, hospitals, health centres and dispensaries, job avenues and good educational options in blocks, districts people are migrating in large numbers to cities, towns and metropolis with about thirty lakh people having left Uttarakhand till now, with villages becoming vacant. This has resulted in the wild monkeys and pigs frequenting the Uttarakhand villages and damaging the crops including attacking human beings in the interior. There are reports that monkeys caught in metropolises, cities and other states are brought to Uttarakhand jungles and set ftee which not only breed further but make the vacant villages their permanent houses to fill their bellies. In marriage functions these monkeys create havoc and damage crops and agricultural fields. The village women, especially senior citizens who are actually left in village have to cope with these wild monkeys by keeping them out of their village periphery with sticks or in unison, becoming a regular feature. There have been number of instances of these monkeys entering houses, going haywire or behaving like rebels injuring old women and children. A tragedy has occurred today in village Tamlaag , patti Gagwadsiun, under district Pauri Garhwal when an old women trying to shirk away or dispel the monkeys creating trouble and damaging the corps killing her brutally. The monkeys responded by pouncing on an old women and attacking her brutally scratching her entire face leaving her profusely bleeding and finally meeting the tragic end. The old women maybe in her seventies or eighties died after being grievously injured. The forest department officials reached the village and sent her to Pauri hospital where she was declared dead. There was panic all around in the villages and surrounding areas. The Uttarakhand villages are now no more safe with wild animals and carnivores having come close to human habitats and even maneaters roaming around prowling for human flesh.
