Why Biren Singh not being changed. The BJP high command had changed three CMs in three months in 2022. Why favour to him?
After the horrifying video of 2 tribal women being paraded naked and tortured in the Manipur violence, there has been an uproar in the whole country.
In this viral video from Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, three more accused who were involved in the crowd roaming naked have been arrested. The tally of the arrested persons gave now reached to four.
Before this, a main accused of this most obnoxious act has already been caught. The incident is so gruesome that the government swung into action as soon as the video surfaced.
After PM Modi’s strong reaction on this, the police swung into action and in the morning one and now three accused have been arrested. The prime minister had strongly condemned this shameful incident and had pledged to bring the culprits to book given them the strictest of the punishment, not sparing the guilty by any means.
After the arrest of four people in connection with the rape of women in Manipur, the Manipur government has instructed the police to take strict action against the accused.
CM Biren Singh, who is also the home minister of Manipur has said that no one will be spared. While giving information about the arrest, the CM has said that on the basis of the video, all the accused will be identified and caught soon. Three more prime accused in the heinous crime of kidnapping and gangrape under Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district have been arrested today.
In this way, a total of four people have been arrested so far. The state police is making all out efforts to arrest the other culprits at the earliest.
Monsoon session adjourned on first day over Manipur issue
On the very first day of Manasutra, which started in Parliament, there was a lot of uproar regarding the Manipur issue. Due to which the proceedings of both the Houses were adjourned for the day. Now the proceedings of both the Houses of the Parliament will start from 11 am today. On the one hand, the government claims that it is ready for any kind of discussion regarding Manipur. On the other hand, the opposition is adamant on its demands.
Meanwhile, the senior Congress leader and president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded immediate resignation of Manipur CM Biren Singh through a tweet. Kharge tweeted pointing towards PM Narendra Modi :
You did not make a statement inside the Parliament, yesterday.
If you were angry then instead of making false equivalence with Congress governed states, you could have first dismissed your Chief Minster of Manipur.
INDIA expects you to make an elaborate statement in the Parliament today, not just on one incident, but on the 80-day violence that your government in the state and the centre has presided upon, looking absolutely helpless and remorseless.
Jairam Ramesh had castigated the prime minister on his statement in Manipur for only thirty seconds after several days of silence. In a tweet Jai ram Ramesh said : After more than 1800 hours of an incomprehensible and unforgivable silence, the Prime Minister finally spoke on Manipur for a sum total of 30 seconds. After which, the PM tried to divert attention from the colossal governance failures and the humanitarian tragedy in Manipur by equating crimes against women in other states, especially those governed by the Opposition while ignoring atrocities on women in states like MP, UP and Gujarat.
Firstly, he completely sidestepped the issue of the ongoing ethnic conflict. He has made no appeal for peace, nor asked for the CM of Manipur to step down. While he has commented on this one video that has surfaced, this is only one example of the hundreds of incidents of barbaric violence in the state of Manipur.
Secondly, the PM tried to equate systemic and ongoing violence in Manipur with cases of crimes against women in other states. The perpetrators of these crimes have been arrested in Congress-governed states within 24 hours. In Manipur, it took 15 days to register an FIR against unknown persons and today, 64 days later, for the CM of Manipur to claim that arrests have been made. There has been a complete and total collapse of law & order and administration in Manipur.
This is too little too late. Mere words won’t do anymore. Actions must speak louder.
The Prime Minister and the Home Minister cannot escape accountability. The Chief Minister of Manipur should step down immediately.
INDIA will continue to demand answers — to ensure a path towards peace and reconciliation in Manipur.
Congress former chief Rahul Gandhi tweeted : Prime minister, the issue is not that it’s a shame of the country . The issue is of the immense pain and trauma inflicted on the women of Manipur. Stop the violence immediately tweeted Rahul Gandhi.
It may be recalled that the culprits have been arrested after the riots broke out in Manipur 77 days ago and the video of then went viral in social media parading two women in open streets with prime minister taking a very very serious view of it and pledging not to spare the culprits at any cost. The most incompetent chief minister Biren Singh is himself a home minister of Manipur apart from being a CM and since the last 77 days there had been not action that amounts to his total incompetence. People are questioning who is responsible for this lapse and if the Uttarakhand BJP and centre can change three CMs last year in just three months why not Rao Biren Singh changed despite so much of deaths, colossal loss to properties and villages after villages burnt and tremendous loss to human lives. Why special favour is being shown for Biren Singh question people.
Reacting to this heinous incident in Manipur, Puran Chand Kandpal, a senior litterateur from Uttarakhand, said: Seeing the gruesome, shameful, uncivilized and stigmatizing scene of humanity with two women in Manipur, mankind has been shaken today. Nothing can be more shameful and gruesome than this. It is very difficult to describe this scene in words. Looks like humanity is dead. This is a very sad picture of our democracy. The incident of 4 May 2023 was kept hidden till 19 May 2023 said Puran Kandpal.
