While fate of AAP and BJP candidates will be known on 26 th June, AAP and BJP overconfident of their respective victories in Rajinder Nagar by-election
The election result of the by-election of Rajender Nagar Assembly constituency in Delhi from where Aam Aadmi Party’s Durgesh Pathak, BJP’s Rajesh Bhatia and Congress party’s Prem Lata, were the contesting candidates , will be declared on 26 th June, the day of counting.
There had been 43.75% voting held on 23 rd June, on Thursday out of the total voters being 1, 64, 698. During the election held on 2020 when Raghav Chadda of AAP had won from here the voting the percentage was 58.72. This year’s voting was low due to the hot summer season reveal sources. The Rajinder Nagar assembly seat was vacated by the sitting MLA Raghav Chadda who was AAP’s Punjab incharge now the Rajya Sabha MP from there. According to the political analysts if this seat is won by AAP as expected, Arvind Kejriwal will have an upper hand politically as he is trying to expand his party’s base in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, though he terribly failed in Uttarakhand securing merely less than four percent votes, with security deposits of half of the candidates lost. Similarly, the stake of BJP is also stuck in this by election especially for Delhi BJP. As far as Congress candidate is concerned her chances seem to be extremely dim say sources. Though the assembly by – election of Rajinder Nagar was fought on water, electricity, roads and sewerage issues, the impact of Agniveer Defence Forces Recruitment scheme and arrest of AAP leader and minister Satyendra Jain will also shed light on the winning n losing chances of the AAP and BJP candidates especially after the violent demonstrations and vandalism taking place across the country. Though the Punjab’s victory has added political grace to the position of Aam Admi Party, the Rajinder Nagar by-election result, if goes against AAP will have adverse impact on its chances in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh where Arvind Kejriwal is trying to expand its political influence. However, the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities including surge in petrol, diesel and domestic gas prices n prises of essential commodities compounded by violent reactions from across the country against Agniveer scheme will also negatively impact the chances of BJP candidate. In nutshell, the political prestige of both the BJP and AAP is at stake in this by election’s result to be declared on 26 th June. Though BJP has not much to lose as they are already out of power in Delhi for the last 8 years, the AAM ADMI PARTY n Arvind Kejriwal are bit worried, reveal sources. If AAP wins his prestige will enhance further n if it loses it will open the gates of future challenges in Himachal n Gujarat where AAP’s national convenor n Delhi CM Kejriwal is trying his best to spread the tentacles of AAP after a massive triumph in Punjab.
