When RAJESH KHANNA appeared in a rare interview in AAP KI ADALAT IN 1992 , THE FIFTIETH EPISODE OF ZEE TV

I am reminiscing an old interview of first and original superstar of Bollywood Rajesh Khanna , the fiftieth episode of Zee TV then anchored by senior journalist Rajat Sharma. Then Indian TV wasn’t in existence and Rajat Sharma had started the programme called Aap Ki Adaalat, going very well. He was interested to interview Kaka for the fiftieth episode. Rajat Sharma came to Lodhi estate number of times to make Kaka agreeable for the interview but Kaka won’t relent. However, after repeated requests of Rajat Sharma ,on the advise of Chanchal one of his colleagues then, a senior Hindi journo, writer and sketch artist n me who was his press advisor then Rajesh Khanna finally agreed, but on one condition that he should be given the entire feedback and there won’t be rough tough, irrelevant and unethical questions. Kaka being a seasoned actor and a superstar having already done several Super duper hit films got the questions and he rehearsed casually. Finally the date was fixed for the interview. Kaka and me and some other friends accompanied the Superstar to the Noida studios where Rajat was desperately waiting for Kaka. The moment Kaka’s car entered the premises of the interview of Zee TV Studios at Noida, Rajat Sharma heaved a great sigh of relief. Kaka immediately received a good welcome by Rajat and his entire staff, offered water n taken to the make up room while we were taken inside the auditorium of the interview , the set of the Adalat and shown the seats among audience. Before the start of the interview Rajat Sharma gave the audience all the tips and requested them to maintain discipline etc. The Judge of the Adalat/ Show was Mrs Mrinal Pandey then the Joint editor of Dainik Hindustan. The audience were thrilled as Kaka entered the set with folded hands and cheered to the hilt. The interview went extremely well. Kaka was flawless n extempore in his presentation. It was indeed a magnificent interview with Kaka delivering every answer with complete flair and interruption. During those days the CD was sent to Singapore by a special messenger from where it was telecast all over Indian and the world. The year was 1992.
