The former chief minister of West Bengal who ruled from 2000 to 2011 for eleven long years taking the reigns of power from the hands of the legendary communist leader and West Bengal CM Jyotir Basu, Budhadev Bhattacharya breathed his last in Kolkata sending shock waves in the state. Prime minister Narendra Modi expressed his Condolences after learning about the sad demise of Budhadev Bhattacharya and wrote on X : Saddened by the passing of Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, former CM of West Bengal. I have been knowing him for last several decades, and visited him a few times when he was ill and effectively confined to home in the last few years.
