We have deliberately handed over the roads of the mountains to contractors, JCBs, Pokeland and explosives said Harish Rawat

In Uttarakhand landslides have created Havoc everywhere especially on the national highway guests and main roads where the works of widening of roads is taking place. There have been massive landslides almost on every road widening sites and the mountains are crumbling posing direct threat to the vehicles and human beings plying on them. In one such instance with former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat posting a video of one of the Almora roads which is shown crumbling badly on whivh just few seconds before three big vehicles with occupants had passed including two motor cyclists. To be very honest Uttarakhand’s fragile mountains are currently the victim of massive drilling,, dynamite explosions and JCB repeated hittings making the already weak mountains even more weak which fall like a pack of cards during rains or thunderstorm etc. when vehicles ply on them then too sg times they get adversely impacted due to their fragile nature and loose density losing their cohesiveness during the drilling or explosions etc. Uttarakhand is really in mess these days due to four lane all weather roads, the internal massive drilling of tunnels in railway project from Rishikesh to Karnaprayag, various hydropower projects under construction compounded with massive monsoon rains. The result is enormously dangerous with human lives at risks and collateral damages to economy massive with our rivers filling with rubbish coming out from these hills during the construction works falling in them massively and already weak mountains becoming hollow from inside. The former chief ministers of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat after posting a video of massively crumbling of the road’s big chunk in Almora wrote on X in Hindi : This is a scene from Almora, which some people have sent to me. The mountains have been challenging even before. But during this time, we have cut the roads ruthlessly, we have left our road construction completely at the mercy of contractors and who knows where the contractors are from? They are cutting and making abundant profits and then moving on and our share is these crumbling and breaking mountains and lives are getting buried in them.
We have deliberately handed over the roads of the mountains to contractors, JCBs, Pokeland and explosives said Harish Rawat in a post on X posting a video of crumbling mountains and roads in Almora, Uttarakhand with a JCB busy in clearing the debris.
