War of words between Harish Rawat and Kishore Upadhyay comes in the open

The war of words between the former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat and former chief of Congress Kishore Upadhyay has enhanced in Congress with both accusing each other in the open through social media posts now acknowledging the attention of the media, especially when elections of the state assembly are round the corner.

The former Uttarakhand chief, founding leader of forests rights movement n former industrial advisor to the then CM Uttarakhand Narain Dutt Tiwari, Kishore Upadhyay has accused Harish Rawat of using threatening language against him in his post of 20 November saying that it has hurt him from inside.

This was in response to the post of Harish Rawat in social media with regard to his contesting from Sahaspur Assembly constituency in 2017 in which Kishore had lost the seat but adding that despite making him lose the seat by his detractors within Congress he had tried his best to mobilise MLAs in favour of Congress to form the government led by Harish Rawat n also supported his candidature for CMship of the state.

But using the term ” Churi Kaddu par Gire ya Kaddu Churi par Gire”, has disturbed and hurt him from inside amounting to allegedly threatening him said disenchanted Kishore Upadhyay.

Harish Rawat has while responding to Kishore post about his contest from Sahaspur assembly constituency on his own wish wrote that let’s see how much tolerance should one have, when Kishore accused the former for making him contest from Sahaspur leading to his defeat and then appointing the Tehri MLA as minister in his cabinet keeping him in dark and without bringing him in confidence in 2017.

Former Congress chief Kishore Upadhyay further said that whenever I became active in Tehri being my traditional strong hold from where I had won twice, I was pressurised by the high command not to interfere in Tehri, as the Uttarakhand government was running due to the support of independent MLAs, further including the Tehri MLA, the minister in his cabinet by Harish Rawat, without bringing the fact into my notice.

Just imagine what would have been my mental condition when I came to know about this through media, despite the fact that I had worked hard to get the support of MLAs to install Harish Rawat’s govt in Uttarakhand in 2017 n favoured him outrightly as CM, despite losing from Sahaspur by merely 377 votes against all odds.

The open war of words between both the senior leaders of Congress, especially when elections are round the corner has definitely given handle to BJP whose leaders are making mockery of this open war between both the leaders resulting in weakening the Congress say political analysts.

It may be recalled that Kishore Upadhyay had earlier in 2016, accused Harish Rawat of ditching him when his chances to become the Rahta Sabha MP from Uttarakhand were scuttled by the then CM Rawat sending his protege Pradeep Tamta in Rajya Sabha who was earlier accorded ticket from Almora Lok Sabha having won the seat.

He has also not been included in the screening committee of Uttarakhand, Congress that finalises the tickets of Congress candidates. The senior vice president of Congress in Uttarakhand has expressed his anguish over this decision of senior Congress leaders and had demanded to include former minister and MLA Yashpal Singh Arya and Kishore Upadhyay to include them in the state screening committee.

Meanwhile, in a letter written to Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Kishore Upadhyay has expressed his serious concern about new emerging variant Omicrome and requested to enhance the financial compensation for those died during Covid 19 to Rs 10 lakh each and making necessary insurance arrangement of Rs 50 lakhs to each and every inhabitant of Uttarakhand including making all the necessary arrangements in all Uttarakhand hospitals to tackle the forthcoming pandemic in its new deadly form Acrimone virus.
