The prestigious Megsaysay award recipient with many other recognitions noted environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk had been included in the list of top 100 climate leaders of the world which is no ordinary achievement, though he is IN JODHPUR jail on the charges of sedition UNDER NSA charges etc.
This outstanding honour / recognition has been bestowed on Sonam Wangchuk for his unstinted efforts to protect the Himalayas, its environment and ecology, for protecting the glaciers and inventing the ICE STUPA PROJECT TO PROTECT THE GLACIERS etc.
Wangchuk has long been working to protect the fragile ecology of the Himalayan regions from the threats of climate change.
The so-called social activists remained silent to pressurise the government for his release from Jodhpur jail.
His innovative efforts to combat climate change in the Himalayan region, including projects like the “Ice Stupa,” have been praised worldwide.
Wangchuk has dedicated this achievement to the entire Himalayas and the youth of India.
It is a matter of great shame that no effort has been made to secure the release of Sonam Wangchuk, who is serving his sentence in Jodhpur jail after the imposition of NSA and is included among the top 100 environmentalists or climate leaders of the world.
