Vinesh resigns from Railways, meets Mallikarjun Kharge with Bajrang Punia. Likely to join Congress

Olympian woman wrestler Vinesh Phogat has resigned from Railways. She was OSD there and was drawing a salary of Rs one lakh. After her resignation it is crystal clear that Vinesh is joining the Congress party and shall be contesting as MLA on Congress ticket. Another Olympian wrestler having won Bronze in Olympics raising the Indian flag high Bajrang Punia is also Congress say news reports. Yesterday both, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat met Rahul Gandhi and today they have met the Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. In a message on X posting the pictures with Congress general secretary Venugopal, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia Mallikarjun Kharge wrote : Chak de India, Chak de Haryana! Meeting our talented champions Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia who have made India proud in the world at 10 Rajaji Marg. We are proud of both of you. After resigning from Railways Vinesh posted her resignation letter on X writing in Hindi : Serving Indian Railways has been a memorable and proud time of my life. At this point in my life, I have decided to separate myself from the railway service and have submitted my resignation to the competent authorities of the Indian Railways. I will always be grateful to the Indian Railway family for this opportunity given to me by the Railways in the service of the nation. Addressing the media after meeting Congress leader n LOP Rahul Gandhi addressing mediamen Bajrang Punia said I thank everyone. We will fight together against injustice and stand with Congress in every struggle. We had written a letter to the women MPs of BJP against the injustice being done to women wrestlers, but no one stood with us. But Congress stood with us at every turn.

It may be recalled that Vinesh Phogat is an Indian female wrestler who has won many medals at the international level. She was born on 25 August 1994 in Bhiwani district of Haryana.
Vinesh’s family is associated with wrestling. Vinesh started wrestling at the age of 7 and soon started displaying her talent.
Vinesh has participated in many international tournaments, some of her major achievements are:

• Gold medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games
• Gold medal in 2018 Commonwealth Games
• Bronze medal at 2019 World Wrestling Championships

Three gold medals in Commonwealth Games,
Two bronze medals in World Championships
and Asian Games and there is one gold medal in the Asian Championships .
Vinesh is known for her speed and technique. She has inspired many young wrestlers and has become a prominent name in Indian women’s wrestling.

Vinesh Phogat who had defeated the rival women wrestlers at Paris Olympics entering the final was hard lucked having been disqualified to enter the final thus losing the chance to win the Gold. Her appeal for joint Silver medal was also turned down. On reaching Palam Airport Vinesh acknowledged the tumultuous welcome with Congress MP from Haryana and the fraternity of wrestlers including Bajrang Punia welcoming her with bouquets and garlands with years in her eyes.
